To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Like the tower. Love the boat! Never seen balast in a pure ski boat. That would be nice for some evening surfing!

Those towers were available in 2003 only. Used for Ski Fly. My local dealer had one at one point, but not sure if he sold it.

I like it. I'm far from a tower person but, do like the looks of the "spider". Is that a fair price?

Very nice! Same scheme as my bothers 04. Why did they only offer that tower for one year??

I was thinking that was folded up when I first looked at it. I am not a fan of that tower, it looks like a pain and would not make much of a difference from using the pylon.

Surfing behind a 196? Can that be done?

That is a crazy looking tower...never seen it before. Did nautique have a short tower any other years?

I think 03 is it. I don't recall seeing anything comparable in subsequent years.

Never seen that tower. I like it. Any more pics of it? Looks like just the attachment point protrudes to the back? ie. driver and observer won't hit their heads?

The bottom of the tow connection has a molded padding so you don't crush your skull if you stand up into it. It's actually not as bad to move around as I thought.

In regards to surfing I've never surfed a 196 but the family that traded this boat in did. They wanted a better surf wake which was the reason they upgraded, the boat is in excellent condition inside and out.
