  • 1973 Mastercraft

Hello my name is Dave. I have a 1973 Mastercraft that has been in the family for 40 years. I did a total rehab in the early 90s, but about 8 years ago the engine spun a main bearing. So, the boat sat in the back yard with out a cover. The wife wants the boat out of the yard so its time to find someone that wants to rehab the boat again. The boat's original color was light green with a dark green stripe I had a gel coat paint job done when I rehabbed the boat to its color now. So if you would like anymore info call me or text me at [847] 528-0459. I'm trying to sell this, and i am unsure on how much its worth. Is the boat worth anything at all as a collectors item, or to somebody that would want to restore it?

Dave, I hope somebody here jumps on it! Love looking at these vintage boats. Do you have any engine shots? Reverse rotation motor? Pcm, Holman moody, commander? Where is boat located?

Definitely some value there. Any indication of the condition of the stringers? Floor?

Having redone and owning 4 MCs of the is vintage, I would say 7-900 dollars. The windshield being cracked is a major set back. This is a very ambitious project/near parts boat. It is an early boat which makes it desirable by some. They made about 1 per week back then. It will need floor, stringers, engine, etc. The color change works against it too. This is more than the average boat lover would want to take one. Good luck.

yes I live about 1 hr north of Chicago and yes it needs new stringers & floor. The bottom of the boat is OK . It has a Ford 302 Reverse rotation motor. I added some new pic of the motor. Question how can you tell the difference between Reverse rotation motor, Pcm, Holman moody and Commander?

I agree. By the time it's done you may even lose a little at that price, even if you do the work yourself. Said it once, I'll say it again: you can get a resto boat for free and still pay too much. Cool boat tho!

The only thing about this is, you might have more money in it than its worth but think of the pride and time you'd have in it. This is something I wouldn't fix up to sell but to own for its pure value. It's a piece of history.. Can't put a price on that.

Boat should be donated for free to whoever wants it. As it is right now, even the trailer isn't road worthy

I am going to have to agree with the above.... or for history sake... no profit in this at all.... or even break-even...

                              Agree.

I'm not sure that a Mc sns is a 'piece of history'. There's not a shortage of these things quite yet. I suppose there will be eventually tho, sine they're not making any more. I think these are awesome boats to own. I was the curator for madcityskier's sns for a few years. What an awesome boat.
