  • opinion on Nautique vs MC

I have read many post about Nautique being similar to MC, I found a 2004 Air Nautique 226 Team Edition. How would this boat do for a family rig for ski, surf, wakeboard, kneeboard. What model would it be similar to in the MC family.

I am having a hard time finding a MC in my price range and the Nautique is very close

They both make great boats. I dont' fault either company on build quality - although having learned inboard on MC - the backwards rotation on Nautique is irksome.

having owned a 02 moomba outback and a 05 supra ssv 22 and been in friends cc 216 and
cc sv 211 the seat height is what I noticed the most. build quality between the skier's choice boats and the other two are world apart. ton's of gelcoat cracks in both my moomba and supra.

both nautique and mc seem to be the best built by far. either way you won't go wrong.

      oh now I own a mc x2.

You are opening up a can of worms with this thread. The 226 is a nice boat and is considered a crossover model. The 2008 226 model hull design is a little better all around as it was redesigned. I have a friend that had a 226 and he is one of the better wakeboarders I know, plus he is an engineer for CC. He also does competitions as well. I am not sure about the slalom wake, but it would make a great family boat.

As far as a MC that compares, probably something like the Prostar 205V or Xstar. It has an awesome wakeboard wake and a pretty good surf wake. Slalom wake is acceptable but not competition worthy. Personally, I would rather have the 205V over the 226, but that is just my opinion.

I currently have a 225 Crownline I/O and have never owned a V-drive Inboard. Everything we do is recreational and involves kids.

My dad says you should get an 81 Sea Ray, the greatest boat ever!

You know they all have a little string hanging out, but it's not a tampon, it's a price tag...

Will you ever let this go? Sounds like some serious daddy issues relating to the 81 Sea Ray.....

MC and nautique are both great boats. Most of my friends have nautique boats, and they are top notch in quality. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one if the circumstances were right.

Mastercraft and Nautique both make a great product, you cannot go wrong with either. Good luck with the purchase.

It's basically a Ford/Chevy thing when it comes to CC vs MC. I have ridden behind both boats for years and I've always preferred Mastercraft just based off the wake and the way it handles, but my buddy will say the exact opposite. My opinion is the quality is comparable just get out on both and see which one fits you better.

I have owned both and would buy either if the price were right. My first was a '79 SN with 351 Ford...awesome boat...learned to foot behind it. It is still on our lake with about 2000 hours on it...but i bet the guage is broke. I have a 96 Prostar now and it is awesome too. Both good boats.

I have owned BOTH and both are awesome boats.... I do remeber when I purchased the CC how outstanding the customer service was..... For the first couple of years they would bend over backwards anytime I needed anything.... Not sure if that was specific to that CC delaership but that really made an impression on me....
