  • 1996 Prostar 190 Refurb project

Hello all, I am new to this site, and new to boating all together. Recently picked up a 1996 Prostar 190 that is in need of some TLC. I need to take some oxidation remover to the hull and replace the decals. After days and hours of searching I cannot find what I am looking for, so I am asking for some assistance.
What MC color is this, and where do I find Hull decals in this color?
I included the interior photos as well since since they match the exterior decals.
    Thank you for the help!

    Welcome to TMC!

    Great looking boat!

I believe White hull with Teal and Berry accents.

Get the HIN number and call MC. They may be able to give you the color info you need. Great looking boat!

Thank you for the replies. @Rockman, I am in Cleveland, OH. I am pretty handy and plan to do most all the fixing up myself. Yesterday was the first day I had the boat in my possession and what you see is me assessing what needs done. The hull should de-oxidize nicely based on the small bit I did by hand. Carpet should clean up with a stiff brush and carpet cleaner. Vinyl is going to take some cautions work. Seems pretty dry and I have already busted 2 seams just looking around. I plan to ad 2-4 pop-up cleats, and clean up the cockpit/gauges, replace the radio and speakers. All cosmetic really, engine/steering/prop and pumps are all in good working order. Boat sat trailed for 5 years

              JohnL,

Welcome to MasterCraft and TeamTalk, and welcome to the Northeast Ohio ski boat scene. Me being nosey, where did you pick up the boat? where do you plan to ski?

We have at least eight (8) TT'rs from the area and we all hit similar lakes in the area. We also try to hit the Portage Lakes scene for evening cruises on weekends.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with MC and this group but since you're from Ohio you need to put the Buckeye Bash 5 on your calendar for the weekend of August 16th. Here are a few links so you can keep track and we hope to see your there this year with a refreshed 190.

I'd say you have my boats twin. Welcome to TT. What powerplant and how many hours?

Double D, Cleveland was vague, I actually live in Aurora and Aurora Lake is my home lake. Have a slip there.
I know nothing yet about owning a boat or much about boats for that matter aside from piloting a few over the years and being pulled by one. New home with a lake, kind of figured why not buy a boat. Found this boat through word of mouth, it was never listed. 494 hours on the engine. The engine is a 305 EFI

All sounds completely logical to me.

One of my TT buddy's down here bought a 2001 MC 209 off someone on that lake last spring, pretty sure...

I don't remember, is that a private lake?

hey Jon - your boat looks very familiar! I changed over my interior and had done a lot of appearance refurb, if anything in my thread helps you down the road, cool:

Welcome to TeamTalk, BTW - lots of great guys here with WAY more answers than you probably have questions! But great to know they're here when you need them. And whatever you do refurb-wise, do us a solid and post (with pictures)! We all love to see 'em.

Thanks Jeffer, your refurbishing skills are much more advanced than mine. Your boat looks great, thanks for the post.
I pulled all the vinyl today, cleaned the bilge and fixed the bilge pump. Tomorrow is a carpet shampoo, then start peicing it back together. When that is done I need to polish the hull.
The radio mount is the only real thing throwing me at the moment. Think the original cutout is larger than replacement covers I can buy. Not sure how to install a new stereo and have it tv look right.
