  • Clarion CMD9 specs look good ...

I don't think these have hit the stores yet, but I was looking at the Clarion website:
    http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...655197670.html
Looks like it will have 4 volt pre-outs, dual zone control, built in bluetooth. I probably won't be running out to upgrade my CMD6, but you can pick up the Clarion refurbed stuff pretty reasonably and it should be plug and play (maybe in a year or two). I thought the new MW4 remote looked pretty cool.

I wonder if the remote would be suitable for transom mounting. I like the idea of having the display so you can see what you doing. More function than just changing the song.

Been looking at it as well, not supposed to be in stores for another month or so I think. The MW4 is IP66 so it should be fine as a transom remote. It's a little on the spendy side though.

Right now you can pre-order on Amazon for $151.45 the MW1 are going for $137.99-not much of a difference if you're already looking to buy a remote.

Is there a small transom remote without the display that is compatible with that head unit???

I have the CMD5 and little 2" diameter transom remote. That is all I have room for on my 197.

Here are the remotes supported...Wired remote ready with Optional MW1/MW2/MW4

Pic is those of the CMD5, I don't think it will support your rear transom remote. Thought I read something on backward capability ... Can't seem to find it.

Edit..found it... Was regarding the MW4.

"With Clarion's new watertight, wired remote controls, command of your system is always just an arms-reach away. Up to three remotes can be installed. The MW4 is also backwards compatible and can be used with the following Clarion Marine Source Units: CMV1. CMD9, CMD8, CMD7, CMD6, CMS5, CMS1, M303, M309 and M502"

Ahh, hadn't seen that yet. I've narrowed my choices down between the CMD9+MW4 or Alpine CDA118M+MC20. Boat should be delivered this week so I can actually figure out what I really need vs want. Still need to outfit it with wakeboards and skis!

Whats the difference in functionality of the cmd8 vs. cmd9? Besides the bigger screen?

                    http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...its/index.html

The details are below.. My summary...the CMD9 is...

                    - $200 more retail

                    - has more inputs/outputs

                    - has more output 50 vs 45 watts per channel...

                    - natively supports Bluetooth streaming, this alone is worth about 150 for clarion parts to support it or about $50 -100 if you go after market...

                    - screen is bigger, I think but am not certain... Wouldn't matter in my case.

Anyone know what happened to the CMD9? Looks like a lot.of online retailers have it listed as already discontinued. The decks on the clarion website now are the cmd6 and 7...no 8 or 9.

Just bought an 8. Seems like a good deck. Couldn't find a 9 anywhere. For the difference in price I would have been hard pressed to buy it anyway. Lots of features I probably wouldn't have used except for the Bluetooth.

After dealing with Sync in my Ford I've decided to deep features to a minimum in the boat. As long as I can use my iPhone and iPods for music I'm good. Can't see me using the phone connection for calls, can't see the color display because of where mine is mounted and plugging it into the USB port just seems to be a better way to ensure performance. Just my thoughts though.

I agree when it comes to some of the fluff. My main interest was in the 4v pre- outs
                          2v makes me cringe.

I will admit, I do love my alpine cda-9886m in my roofless jeep. Really the only benefit I can see in the clarion is a waterproof face rather than just water resistant. Not sure how much that actually aids in longevity though.
