Ignition protected? Isn't that why the jabsco and Johnsons are so expensive

Good luck with it, but at 300 gallons per hour that pump would take almost 40 minutes to fill my surf sac.

It's not even half of what the other 2 can do.

Point being if you want to try it go right ahead - but it is way cheaper to go to HF than a rebranded equivalent - and considering that you can see that it is even the same picture (see the haze from the red clip on the right)

            1) those are not ignition protected
            2) just because a DPDT switch can be used to reverse the motor, doesnt make it a reversible pump. Contact Jabsco or Johnson and ask them. They make impeller pumps that are only intended to move water in one direction.

Id give it one season of regular use. And I agree with 88 PS190, it looks like the photo-shop'd out the handle and battery clips and shop'd in their logo.

dang you guys are def right. It is a rebrand of a harbor freight pump!

Hmm not being ignition proected might be a big of a problem as i planned on install it in the same factory location as the x1 pumps are (back transom behind the panel). Probably not safe to have something that isnt ignition protected.

That's a pretty good price on the jabsco. I was thinking that it usually cost more than the Johnson.
Being on the water is best, but when I'm not on the water I'm on TT.

It is - HF lists it as 300 gph with no head - the 260 is at a certain rise.

Yeah feed them with 4 thru hulls? That makes no sense at all.

i don't know where u been shopping ballast pumps but wakemakers and hodges marine have the best price all under $200 i went with the johnson pumps they seem to move water faster and always run super smooth good luck with harbor freight pumps i tried a house sump from them what a joke it ruined half of basement cause it failed wouldn't put much trust in cheap knock off pumps

I bought the Johnsons from Wakemakers as you indicated above and was the best price I found around the web at the time (although the hodges link has a fantastic price). Quality of these pumps is clear the minute you take them out of the box. They are actually made in Finland or Sweden rather than China like everything seems to be made nowadays. The Jabsco ballast puppies they sell are slightly higher priced but that is because they come with a wired switch- adding to the cost. Wakemakers site actually has a video comparing the two and says the Johnson is actually the more expensive pump - it just doesnt have the switches so costs less overall.

You wont go wrong selecting one of these but I would be very hesitant to run a non sparkproof ballast pump (Technically couldn't the insurance company deny the claim if they found the cause of a fire or explosion was related to the owner installing non service approved parts? I know not very likely and the safety risk to my family would the main reason to pass on the HF versions)
