  • 351w head gasket leak

Boat is a 1976 SS with a 351w. That boat sound like it has a cylinder missing. But when that boat gets upto temp and the thermostat opens steam is coming out if the PCV valve. Would this typically be a head gasket leak?

Anything is possible. I would start with a compression test followed by a cylinder leakdown test, loads of info on diagnose.

      Is the oil milky looking?

It just started. So it's hard to tell if the oil is milky

Drain the oil and cut open the filter. You'll know if there is water getting into the oil.

If there is no signs of water in the oil and you say you have steam coming out the PVC valve I'm gonna say that it's probably not steam. Its more then likely oil passing up past a piston.

Yup, after the compression check he'll see that one or more is low and I'd bet the top of the piston in that cylinder is missing.
