  • Wake Plate on a 209

Has anyone ever added a wake plate to a 209? I'm calling it a wake plate, but I'm assuming it has another name....the center plate found under the platform. I'm wondering if this can be done, as some of the 209's are hooked and some aren't.....wondering if the plate can be added and help accomplish this as well as being used to help w/wake, etc. Thanks in advance for the input.

The attitude adjustment plate? I'm looking to order one for my '08 X-2 and was hoping someone had ordered one recently and could point me in the direction of the dealer who could supply the entire kit?

Technically possible on most any boat I would think. There are two basic manufacturers -- Bennett and Lenco. There's a thread here about the pros and cons of each: http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/...ad.php?t=34579

I have a Bennett unit that I'm planning to install on my 05 X2 later this spring. I have direct interior access to where the actuators will mount on the transom since I have a Vdrive. Not sure about your Ddrive. Then it's just a matter of finding a convenient spot for the hydraulic pump. My only small issue is that my transom is slightly curved so I will have to shim the mounting plate just a bit at either end next to the exhaust outlets.

I have the Lenco on my 07 X2.

Frankly I don't think it does a lot. It will flatten out the wake a little which helps for skiing.

Improving the ski wake is the main reason I'm installing mine. I was able to pick it up brand new on Craigslist for half the regular price, so I figured it was worth it.

I would make sure you really want the wake plate because it might hurt your re-sale value?

Maybe. But anything that improves the wake characteristics of the boat could also be a plus for a buyer. In any event, the install is not irreversible -- it would involve filling some small holes in a fairly inconspicuous place. Not a complicated task.

But that is all moot -- I'm not planning to sell the boat for a loooong time. It's exactly the hull and configuration we wanted and we have no inclination to trade or upgrade.

How would a factory offered option hurt the resale value? I ask because I want to install one and obviously want to protect the value of my beloved liability.
