  • 2005 197 prop??

What is the stock prop for a 2005 197? Buddy of mine had some work done on his prop and now that he has his prop back his boat isn't running the way it used to. He thinks that he may have been given the wrong prop, but he doesn't know what the stock prop was.

Wish these friends of mine would grow a pair and register on here and ask these questions for themselves.

The short answer is 'it depends'. There are 6 or 7 different possibilities based on the engine/transmission combination.

The owners manual lists all of the recommended props for the various combinations. Would suggest downloading the Owners Manual from the Mastercraft website.

The manual says 12.5x12. That does not sound right to me, though. 13x13 used to always be the standard prop.

OKAY I found a pic after eastie asked about my stock prop... I emailed it to me so I could post it today... LOST IT... anyway, the pic does show a peek of a .5 x somethingoranother... You maybe right ncs. One other thing I could do is crawl through the cobwebs near my unused world record holding towboat and see for myself, but speculating is much more fun, right?

I don't know much about props so this may be a foolish question. If the prop is on a direct drive boat, there shouldn't be a "V" on the prop anywhere, correct?

Mine has the Powerslot and I know what works on it. But, that does you no good if you have the 1:1.

Not exactly sure what the 'V' designation stands for although it sounds like you are right.

Our '05 197 has an MCX 1:1 and came stock with a 4-blade OJ. The numbers stamped on the prop hub are 12.5 x 12V TC OJ.

The V on the prop indicates it is variable pitch. 12.5 X 12 was the "stock" (ERK?)offering in 05. They have since switched to our 13 X 11 LC XMP 3-blade.
