We looked at 20’ surf ready boats a few years ago as I wanted to be able to store the boat in our garage. We compared the MC X20 & NXT20 (XT series wasn’t out yet), Nautique GS20 and Supreme S202.

We went with the S202 as the local MC dealer at the time was less than responsive. They’re no longer a MC dealer. I really wanted that X20 too.

My opinion, any 20’ surf boat is going to need additional weight to push an adult around. We added 500lbs of lead to the 202 so I, at 230lbs, could drop the rope.

Is your buddy in the Midwest too? If so where?

X2 and X20 will surf easily without a rope with 450's in the lockers. Starboard wake doesn't really require a suckgate. Port needs the gate.
Find one with a ride plate and it will ski great for rec and high end rec skiers.

Have x20 and run stock ballast - love that it fills in 4min vs all others are like 10-15 min if I recall correctly (6 pumps feeding 3 tanks!). Constantly have the boat filled with 6 adults and can pull up 250lbs guys without an issue. Have the 5.7, flip seating etc. We wakeboard and surf but everyone ends up choosing to surf. Love the profiles (and set a few up for rookie wakeboarder and for knee boarding. Would have loved a larger boat but wanted the best surf I could get and didn't want to waste time filling and drains as friends flip flopped between surf and wake and knee (and yes, tube).
