JL 10W7 Power Handling..

11 Star.. Really wanna pull out the factory IB 10 and build a sealed box behind the hole to replace with a W7 10... I have a Kicker Kx1200.1 currently that puts out 600rms at 4ohm and 1200rms at 2ohm....

So, I guess my first question would be: is the amp power curve linear? Would I be safe to assume that Id have 900rms at 3ohm since its in the middle??

And secondly, anybody with real world experience with the 10w7 and could tell me if 900rms is ok? Jl states 750, but Ive always heard they under rate their stuff.. thanks

I would not count on any amy being linear when calculating wattage for an unspecified load. However, I think your 900W estimate is close enough for government work, in this amp/driver paring scenario.

So lets say that the amp is going to deliver in the neighborhood of 900W @ 3 ohm and the driver has a 750W rms rating. I think youve got a good pairing. You are at least going to be at the driver's rms, but likely have some headroom.
