2019 XT25 Tower Speaker change

My buddy has a 2019 XT25 with the factory Klipsch single tower speakers on the outside mounts. How much power is there to those speakers? Will they drive Rev10s without having to change amps?

Thanks.

I don’t think it’ll be enough wattage. Eecyclone will know better than me

What audio package does he have on the boat? Iím guessing at the amp but think itís the 8 channel so output is 100 watts per channel and rev 10s require 300 rms/600 max so yes you would need a new amp to adequately power them. You could swap them and maybe they will produce more sound.

The current amp will work but the output won't be as loud as the Rev 10's are capable of. In fact it probably won't be much louder than the existing Klipsch cans. I ran 4 rev 10's off the Klipsch amp in my boat for a few months before upgrading to aftermarket amplifiers.

If your buddy knows he wants Rev 10's, he might as well try them out powered by the Klipsch amp since it's already there and wired up.

Another option is the icon 8 that rms at 150 which is closer to stock amp output. Those are coaxial and better for surf distance clarity. I donít know how they compare to the revs.

You will also gain output and mid-bass when going up in speaker size, even without going up in amp wattage. If your current speakers are a coaxial, then you gain even more volume by moving to an HLCD. Again, without even going up in wattage.

How complicated is adding an additional amp? I haven’t had time to completely go through all of the Klipsche threads. Is there a cliff notes for just adding a dedicated tower amp?

Depends on what system you have now. I have some knowledge about it. It can be hard or easy depending on what you have to start with.

The first post in this thread should give you a starting point. Section A talks about adding a dedicated Klipsch tower amp (if one is required).

If you want to add a non-Klipsch amp (aftermarket), I'll be adding more details in a new post in that thread soon.
