i bought a touareg shortly after Matt posted this. I know i don't have a huge boat like you do but it towed my x2 better than any sequoia, Tahoe and Denali that i ever towed with. But i am sure that was due to being a diesel. Used it twice going to table rock and those hills were nothing for it.

Unfortunately, thanks to Dieselgate those things are long gone for the most part. The 3.0T will have to do for now until I win the lotto and can get the 4.0TT in the RS Q8.

By the way, last but not least -Heavy boats & surge brakes are plain dangerous IMO - Electric over Hydraulic is the only way to go.

Yes, maybe this I should have mentioned or considered. Sorry to stir up the fire with everyone.
I guess I will have to try out one of these high end SUV’s one day if I get the chance and see how they feel.

And before I get attacked I’ll admit an old truck like the K30 doesn’t have any safety features of today but it has all new brake components and healthy size brake pads and shoes. That one’s the “fun” ride, not the safest ride...
It won’t be towing anything heavy either.

That's what I want to replace our 06 MegaCab with, though I would rather have the 6.5 foot bed. Also wonder when Ram will put the 6.4 Hemi in the 1500s.

Too expensive and way more power than I want, not to mention the crappy gas mileage. The EcoDiesel would be good, but we put about 2000 miles on our truck a year, if that. Most of the time it's used for pulling our boat from the garage to the launch ramp, which is literally half a mile.

Updated the tow rig to a 2020 Silverado High Country with the 6.2L.
Lifted this one with a Pro Comp 6” Lift and added air bags to the rear for towing. So far this new Silverado has been great.

Will get pictures of it working real soon.

I wouldn’t dump a low mile Mega cab for a half ton, but I wouldn’t buy a new truck to put 2k miles a year on it either.
Eco diesel would be bad and frankly a waste as a garage floor paper weight. Get a gasser if it’s just going to sit and putz around when it is driven.
