Speedometer issue

I have searched several speedometer threads unsuccessfully, so I am asking for help. My speedo in our '03 X9 has an issue. It worked correctly on Friday but Saturday had a mind of it's own. It would be pegged at 50 mph for a while then slowly drop to 0 for a while, then back to 50 etc. The dealer said it could be a grounding issue, but I have not been able to locate it. Any ideas?

I too have the same problem and have not come up with any answers. I have two speedos on my 2002 209 and one of them pegs out @ 50 mph when I am barely moving.
Can anyone help?

Might be grounding, and I'd check that...but if the other gauges are working OK, I'd be very suspicious of the paddlewheel. On the 2003 IIRC there was occasionally a problem with the paddlewheel connector lying in the bilge and being damaged/shorted by the water. Later models are pretty scrupulously zip-tied well out of the bilge.

I dunno about peason's 2002.

Is it a specific color? What does it look like? Obviously I am not a shade tree mechanic.
