ProStar 197 w/ Ballast & Tower Affect Wake?

We are looking for a pure ski boat and want to get a ProStar 197. We have found one but it has the Rear Ballast System and a Full Tower. The dry weight of the boat is around 3300.

Would these options affect the wake of the boat as they are adding weight?

I have an 04 X-7, same setup as you describe. In my opinion there is no impact to the wake. 1,200 hours most of it on the course.
We ski anywhere from 32 mph to 34 mph, 15 off int 39 1/2. we ski a 1999 196 Bubbel Back, one of the best wakes out there, a 2016 197 PS, Natique 2004 196, and the x-7 is right there. if it has a 4 blade ditch it and get the Acme 843- 3 blade. softer wake.
cons- to me its the same wake.
Pros-great wake board wake also. Daughter does flips with no ballast filled up, 3 to 4 people in the boat.
BETTER RESALE VALUE
Just my $0.02

By the way, what year?
anything befoul an 03 and the hull and wake are different. they added a small lip at the end of the boat hull in 03 and it made things mucho better.

I have a 2003 197 that is set up from the factory as an X-7 full size tower with a plumbed fat sac under the seat.

I went from a 77 skier to this 197.

At slower speeds under 32, the wake is bad IMO but at those speeds it is bad regardless of the tower. With youngsters 28 mph is real tough for a kid in the course. Even free skiing.

I ski at 34 into deep shortline After -22 the wakes are fine, not as nice as a 77 but hey the 197 weighs at least 1000 lbs more.

I find the rooster tail at -22 a bit of a hindrance and never ski that rope length.

If you have no intention of using the tower, unless it is a screaming deal I'd pass (mine was)

I've never heard that before. Anyone else have thoughts on a softer wake with the 3 blade 843??

Thanks for the info guys, this is a 2013, I was thinking I would just remove the tower as I do not like the look as much.
