Tower pads for ZFT3

I need tower pads for the ZFT3 tower on my '05 XStar.

Any thoughts about using a plastic/nylon spacer like they use on the new boats? Maybe HDPE?

Or just stick with some kind of rubber?

I'd really like to buy some already made, but I don't think it's possible.

I went to the shoe repair store. Bought rubber sole material, then cut to fit. Tested several types out till I found the right thickness and hardness.

I saw a thread or 2 where people had done this.

How did yours turn out? Do you have any pics?
