My son got his first boat. This will be his first lesson in learning how much it costs to have a boat!!

He want to add a stereo and a couple speakers. I am sure at some point he will want more but that would get us started.

Anyone have anything really cheap for a 9 year old to start to learn how to wire a stereo and pay for it?

Here is the boat the day we got it home. It will need a major restoration over the winter next year.

I have the original Clarion out of my '99 that worked when I took it out a couple of years ago. I'm willing to donate it to the cause if you'll cover shipping. It has the harness and remote minus the extension cable for the remote. PM me and I will get some pics when I get home. Cool boat BTW!

I like the boat. If I had some old stuff, I'd send it to you. I think you can get an inexpensive head unit for little of nothing or the Clarion above that was offered, since you'll be driving the speakers off of that built-in amplifier. A couple of speakers (DB 651s) are under under US $75.

Strip that thing to the bare hull and make it new again. Easy enough on that small craft.

He can pay you back later on in life after college is done.

This boat was a friend of mines that passed away. I was able to buy it from the person had bought it from him. So it is pretty cool to have it. It is rated for a 55HP. Maybe someday!

That little boat looks great and I'm sure your son will clock more hours than most adults. My son put on 10X the hours I do on his little aluminum boat.

Its funny you say that. My wife and I were talking about that. We really want to make the top red as that is what it was when my buddy had it. I said- well we could put a little flake in there and make it look like the big boat......... then the ball was rolling.

I fear I am going to get a call from some guy on the lake that says something like- Hey your son keeps stopping at the dock to take my daughter for a ride in his boat........... and I might have to say- Like father like son!

Hahahahaha..... This is going to happen! My son takes my buddies daughters and I get the sideways looks from them.

Love the idea of a matching boat to dad's. I've thought about a subtle wrap on my sons lund to match the prostar.
