Top of the morning to you!

We are considering purchasing a 1989 TriStar. It has 450 hours and has been owned by the same "family" since new and always garage kept. The boat looks great, no damage, ulpholestery is clean. They are asking $9,500, just wondering if this is a good price?
I also wondered if this would be a good boat to ski behind, as its the 19', I'm not sure what size the wake will be? My kids want a boat that will have a wake, but I want one with a smaller wake for skiing, so we are trying to find a compromise with an open bow that fits all our needs.

Here's the add, no pics in the add.

1989 mastercraft tri star , open bow , 351 ford 450 low hours , matching trlr, new tires , new spare, new stereo and speakers. super clean , no rips tears almost immaculate. No disapointments.

    Any info is appreciated!

    Thanks

Could you post a link to the advert?

Based on your post, yes valued correct. Drop $2k on your offer and you have about $1000 in room to go up if needed. If you're in love with it. Then you would have $2k.

About it's ski performance. I've never even heard of a 19' maristar.

My parents have a 1989 TriStar 190 (same as above, but closed bow and red) and it's been an awesome boat for the past 25 years and is still in great shape :-) They are avid slalom course skiers and have always loved the wake. It's pretty similar to newer Prostars since MC has widened the ProStar over the years. My parents has a tower and has decent wake for wakeboarding at 18-24 mph (much better than the ProStar 190 of same age), especially with a few ppl in the backseat weighing it down. We've had years and years of fun behind it skiing, tubing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, AirChairing, etc. This one looks like it's been well-loved --- go for it!

Oh it's a tri star, the subject in the title is Maristar which threw me off. I didn't catch that you said tri star in your original post.

That looks really clean. Price wise I'd say it's a good deal.

As for performance I've never rode on one. But there are a few guys that will chime in later I'm sure.

Maybe a mod can ammend the title so it's not overlooked.

Also, for comparison, it has over 2,000 hours on it and still runs great! These boats last forever if well maintained.

Thanks for the info, we are hoping to see it this weekend. If this doesn't work out, we will look at fuel injected boats, hoping it saves a "little" in fuel costs???

Haha, fuel cost. I'm burning 5.5 gallons an hour with fuel injection.

It's a 1:1 trans. Your gph will be close to that. I have a small fuel tank and have had to fill up twice in a day on more than one occasion.

I have some friends that did a 24 hour surf sesh in newer boats than mine and they burned 48 gallons every 5 hours.

I've been skiing behind a TriStar 190 for 26 years and the slalom wake is very nice. More of a recreational wake for wakeboarding. Mine has over 1700 hours with no major problems, mainly maintenace.

                      Looks super clean.

                      Same owner.....that's a plus.

450hrs is not an issue imo.

Boat looks to have been stored indoors mainly.
