  • '04 Mastercraft Letters falling off

I have a 04 205v and the lettering has always seemed like it was not put on well, Now the letters are starting to come off, has anyone else had this problem if so how was it fixed. Is this a problem mc should fix under the warranty, my warranty ended i think. Is there some kind of adhesive I can use that will not permenatly bond to the gel coat so one day if i get new lettering the old lettering could be removed. Or should I just buy new lettering.

    Thanks
    Tom

I had the same issue with my 2004 X9. There are a number of previous posts on the board about this issue. From what I hear, it was a common problem with that model year. Your dealer should take care of you.

are you talking about the molded letters? if so its not an mc only thing. i think the heat can make the glue tacky and when water hits the letters they come off. my velcro mount for my ipod keeps melting and now i have sticky all over my dash.

          Letters

I was looking for a topic like this. Just return from holidays with our 2006 x7. As I filled it up at the gas station it keep over filling and slpashing all over me and the boat. I did run it through the power wash after the gas issue. This continued so it took all most 20min to fill my boat. The ****y thing about about five hours after I notice the T and R were coming off the side of the boat under the gas tank. I did speak to the dealer to look into the issue of splilling and spoke to service manager about a possible blockage to my air line off the gas tank. The dealer is shipping me a new sticker for the real of the boat. Any orther ideas would be great!

Take it back to your dealer - don't settle for anything but 100% satisfaction.

I've got an 04 X9 and when I first got it, noticed one of the X9 decal starting to peel off very slightly on one of the edges, I took it to Cope and rode them until they got it right.

Be a pain in the arse if you have to....when you throw down 40 large (plus) for a ride, you should expect nothing but perfection.

              Just one guys opinion....
When in doubt, I whip it out, I got me a rock-n-roll band - it's a free for all! ...Ted Nugent 1976...

I to have an 2004 X9 and last weekend I noticed while skiing that the "M" in Mastercraft had come off on the Starboard side of the boat. I also thought that my Mastercraft dealer would take care of replacing the lettering. Especially after you spent $50K purchasing a boat from their dealership. I ended up having to pay $25 for the "M". So much for the wishful thinking....

If your dealer won't fix it put some marine silicone clear calking under the edges. No damage to gell coat, waterproof and it will hold'm well.
