I am looking at a (little bit) newer boat - a 1997 PS 190 and am wondering if anyone has feedback for me on wakes, reliability or anything else. Our current tow is a 1991 PS w/351pcm. I have heard the 1998 had some issues and am wondering how the 97's worked out. Thanks, Matt.

The 97 190s have great slalom wakes. They might be slightly taller than your 91, but the difference would hardly be noticeable so when you're pulling. The reduction in spray and rough water ride is greatly improved in that hull over the 91.Previous: 1993 Prostar 205

I have a 99 SportStar, which is the same hull as 97 Prostar. It skis great lacks a little in tracking. I have heard wake is a bit larger than your 91, but with less spray for shortline. EFI is awesome! Jamie08 Correct Craft Ski Nautique 196 343 HP 350 MPI EFI

I have a 1996 PS 190... same hull as the 1997. Slalom wakes are great. The 1995-97 PS 190's have a little more room than the older PS, because they slid the windshield forward and reduced a little bit of the bow. I have been told that this hull was one of the best made, which was why they continued using the hull through 2003 in various different models.

If you are trying to stay within a budget, I'd look for a 1995 Prostar 190model as it is identical to the 1997 model.

Don't think you could go wrong with an upgrade to a 95-97 Prostar or possibly a later model Sportstar which is the same hull. As said abouve the slalom wakes are some of the best MC has to offer with no spray, more interior room, and EFI. I made the upgrade last year from an '88 Prostar to a '97 and couldn't be happier.sigpic

well...if you like the ultra crisp handling of your 91, you'll loose that with the 95-97 hull. However, as stated, the ride is much improved. If you don't ski shorter than 32 off, the the spray isn't an issue unless into a stiff head wind. A 94 model with EFI is another option - super clean 94 with EFI, with a four blade prop is also something to consider.1993 25th Anniversary Limited ProStar 190, #17

1997 Prostar
I have a 1997 Prostar 205 and I love the wake. I am not a very agressive tournbament skier YET but it still allows me to stay on edge w/o alot of chop thorugh the middle. My mom owned a 2001 Prostar 209 S/D edition and I absolutly would not ski behind that because there was such a noticable difference in the wake height from side to side with only a driver and observer in the boat! I am preety happy with mine but I also got my eye on a 2006 Tournament Team edition 197 that I might trade mine in for! Good luck and Happy Holidays!!!Current Boat:
