  • Air Filter for Vortec RTP-1 5.7

    Hi,

One of our "intelligent" boat drivers kicked the air filter in the river this weekend. (I don't know why and how. I think i do the same with himself ) argl

Anyway. Does someone know a replacement air filter model that fits in a X-2 '05 with the Vortec RTP-1 5.7l engine?

    Thanks in advanced.

Your dealer is probably the only one able to help you on such a new boat part.
Good luck and welcome to the board!
    Salut!
    Keep skiing!!!

An air filter from a car is not adequate to protect you in a marine application. Thet device is actually a flame arrestor and is designed to prevent an explosion in your boat in the event there is a backfire in the engine and a fuel leak in the bilge. Approved flame arrestors will be marked with the designation J1928 which is the code number of the test that is used to prove the flame arresting capability of the unit. The MasterCraft part number for your flame arrestor is 81521119. Insist that your dealer order the correct flame arrestor for you. It is a safety issue!

And take a copy of Engine Nuts post #4 with you to the dealer, so you can have back-up that you in fact need a MC part or order one from another reputable dealer that frequents Team Talk!

Thank you guys. I didn't know that this must be a flame arrestor. I can't understand why my dealer tells to buy a "normal" air filter. So I have to change my dealer as i can't trust him anymore.

            Thx again for your help.

Give Mike a call @ MC of Charlotte. He will have it to you quicker and cheaper than you local dealer. No need in convincing your local dealer to do their job no do you need to talk them into allowing you to spend your money there.

Not too sure which one you need but he has few listed on his web page....
