Hanging Docking Fenders - Options?

I've been scouring the internet and searching this form for ideas for this one but am coming up blank. We have been docking our boat more often lately and need to deploy fenders when we do. Actually, we're now using a Hull Hugr but the process is the same.

Have any of you come up with a quick way to attach fenders to the boat? We currently attached one line to the rear tower support and one to the front cleat. I personally have no problem tying the proper knots myself but others in the family seem to have trouble with this causing me to have to fix their handiwork wasting more time and creating family friction because "I'm not letting them help". I have no problem with their "help" as long as it doesn't result in a fender dropping in the lake and a gouge in the gelcoat.

It would seem that there should be a quick connect line or strap with a buckle out there that would work for this. Something you could just clip into place, pull on the loose end to cinch, and call it a day. Any ideas that will hold and be as soft on the gel as a nice soft fender line?

Some people are dead set against drilling holes or adding goodies to their boats, but the Perko Fender Locks do work as advertised. Just mark the fenders for Bow, Amidships, Stern so you know which go in which holders.

With option 1 out (please see previous post), I checked out options 2 and 3 and am leaning towards option 2 even though I won't be using them on a hand rail. The nylon straps in option 3 have me concerned about them rubbing on the gelcoat.

Any other ideas?

I have always used a fender tender on the windshield and tie the other fender to the rear cleat.

I also have one attached to the underside of the gunwhale. I have a piece of PV that has been attached to the fiberglass that I ran a rope though and tied off. Then, we just flip the fender out when needed. I will see if I can get some pics tonight.

Any way you an affix the fenders to the dock if it's the same one you use all the time? Any time of manual labor besides flipping it over the gunnel is not going to solve your problem.

This might be obvious, but I don't see it here...

For the front cleat, I just have a rope on the bumber with a loop in it, all set to the right length. I push the loop up thru the centre of the cleat and loop it down over the tines. For the rear I have a "Bumper Buddy" that goes on the hand rail.

I picked up some suction cups from overtons that were made for holding fenders. They work fine, wouldnt use them overnight. If the link doesnt work try using overtons search function for suction cups. They come in a pack of 4 for 9.99

I agree....don't use them overnight.....I had a couple that decided to run away. Good thing we had some rubber dock edging

For years, I've used the QC Woggle on the end of tie up ropes and fenders, allowing you to clip it to rails, cleats, eyes, anything. Simple and easy. i used three 6" fenders with protective covers on them so they dont mess up the decals. I tie one to the front tower arm where my mirror bracket is, the middle one I have preset with a loop that goes around one of the rear tower leg knobs and then just throw it over the side, and the third one goes on the rear pop up cleat ... as we come into the dock or tie up with friends, my kids know to get the bumpers out ...

I have the perko fender hooks... work great and look ok... not perfect... they get used alot that is certain...
