  • 1993 ProStar 190 Limited

Well I finally found a 1993 MasterCraft ProStar 190 Limited for sale. MasterCraft built 25 of these boats to commemorate their 25th Anniversary and this one actually came for sale around Monroe, LA, a few hours from my hometown. My dad knows how long I have been looking for one, so he offered to go and pick it up if I decided to purchase it. My parents drove up to Monroe to pick her today since I was unable to make the trip from Florida, but unfortunately she is not quite as clean as was represented. Lots of work ahead to get her back to showroom standards.

First off Huge Congrats on that boat!!! After we talked, I now understand what you were talking about but I think a little wet sanding and buffing will bring the clear back out before you have to go further but only what...458 hrs on the LT-1? Anymore data on what number that one is? I'll get out to my boat today for that photo we were talking about. Again, Congratulations!!

An idea for the trailer - from the non-skid to thin aluminum plate instead.

Thanks, Brett! I knew she was a little discolored but it was worse than the photos led me to believe and what my understanding was after speaking with the previous owner.

There are 378 hours on the LT1 - as far as the number I am not sure. I was given the original owner's number and will reach out soon to see if I can track that down. This particular boat was produced in December of 1992.

Wet sanding and buffing straight gel coat is pretty forgiving. Flake, especially that of the 30 YO variety, not so much. It might be worth taking it to a really good shop (if you have one locally) to get their perspective on it before jumping in with the sanding block.

Great find!! I’m afraid wet sanding may not get that out, flake is very finicky and you can burn right through the clear and hit the flake base coat. That may call for a respray if you’re looking for perfection.

                    looking forward to the progress!!!

MC25 Yeahhhhhh, I've been talking with the gel wizard and we came to the conclusion that a full respray of the silver flake will be need to get the boat where I want it. Super low hours and mechanically in great condition, unfortunately she was out in the sun for too long without any sunscreen!

Trying to decide if I want to go through the financial investment to have it professionally resprayed or wait to try and get another one of these in better condition cosmetically. I was able to get photos of the original plaques from owner number 1 and he would be interested in having her back if I decide to move on.

You could pass it on to another person willing to take it on. I know a fellow with interest. He's a good guy too.

OP: given your likely MCOCD diagnosis, this might be hard to consider. But, if you like the wake, why not run the boat for a season or two as is? If you have some type of dock or log event, you may get some insurance help to fix the cosmetics.
