  • XT 24 - boat bouys

What's everyone use for docking fenders on these bigger boats. My bouys from by XT22 seem small for my new XT 24. Any recommendations that have the loops so I can use the MC clips still?

Babz are def nice for bigger boats if you can leave them on the dock. If you have to store in the boat the Mission Sentry are nice and not too bulky. I Also like that the stay put and don’t roll around.

I second the Mission Sentry fenders. Works great on my X-10.

Although I recommended Babz, I also keep a pair of Mission fenders on my boat. They work pretty well (and are super convenient) for a quick tie-up at the dock, but I break out the Babz when I tie up to other boats or leave the boat in the water for extended periods of time. Both are great and it ultimately depends on what you're gonna use them for, imo.

Depends on if you want permanent or something more for on the go. If you are looking for more on the go I went with Ronix Happy Hour inflatable bumpers and then had custom fleece covers made (The existing covers seemed to scuff the paint a little)

Custom fender covers for your boat. Get Custom Fender Covers with your boat's name embroidered. Custom fender covers will give your boat that special personal touch. Choose the fender size and customize with you words and even artwork.

Our boat came with the hinged Dockmate fenders from the previous owners.

See them here: Dockmate Large Hinged Fender | Overton's (overtons.com)

They work well for the relatively short freeboard on our 98 Prostar 205 but not sure how they would work for the comparatively huge newer wake and surf boats. But one feature that I first saw on many of these newer boats and that I added (2 per side) onto my boat are the Phender pro quick-deploy fender mounts

              See them here : ⅜” QUICK-RELEASE FENDER SET (bigskyprecision.com)

Now I can ask almost anybody in the boat to help with fender deployment and it is super easy and almost instantaneous. If you are looking for new fenders, I would strongly recommend adding Phender Pros if your boat does not already have them. They are really easy to install and look great as well,

How do those attach to the boat? Would they attach to a cleat ? I don't have fender mounts and don't plan on drilling holes.

They do not attach to a cleat. You would have to drill 4 - 0.75in holes. And I get your hesitancy to drill holes, but it is SUPER EASY to do. I took my time. I watched alot of videos online about how to drill thru gelcoat on fiberglass before starting. The first hole was a bit nerve-wracking but all-in-all it was not a big deal and I had no complications from it. They look great and function incredibly well. It appears that Amazon now offers some cheap Chinesium knockoffs so I would stick with the brand name Phender Pros.

I would HIGHLY recommend this mod for boats that predate them coming on the boat as an OEM feature.

x26 here...we keep Mission & regular fenders on board. usually use both if we dock for extended periods (lunch/dinner) we attach the mission fenders to dock.

fueling (which is as often as you could guess) we use the regular fenders & keep an eye on it.
