  • Winter upgrades underway ...

Well I finally started to work on the boat a couple of weeks ago and have started to make some progress. I'm up to the 1000 grit on Harold's teak regiment. I plumbed the bow fat sack into the factory system. Spent last Sunday with the variable speed buffer working on the sides and bottom. Now I'm turning my attention to the stereo. I've got a couple of wired remotes that I'm adding. One on the transom and one on the port side near the cup holders. Here's a couple of pictures:

I do have a question about mounting another amp. The factory amp is mounted to the wall of the walk through under the observers seat-my boat is a 2006 Maristar 200 (X2). It looks like there is a piece of plywood under the carpet where the amp is mounted to the wall but I couldn't tell for sure. Does Mastercraft put a piece of plywood on the wall to mount the amps to? I was just guessing that they don't screw the amps to the fiberglass at the factory.
    Thanks-
    Rick

We just mounted a 6 channel amp in my brothers Prostar 209 and we mounted it on that wall you are talking about , it does have some type of board that is fiberglassed in that you can screw to without going thur the fiberglass , We used 3/4 " screws to mount the amp on the wall , I have an 06 x-star and it is the same way, it has the board to screw the amps to

      Thanks-
I'll take a look tonight to see if I need to move the first amp to make them both fit.

Well I finished up the transom remote install this weekend. If anybody cares, I have three of the wired remotes connected and they all work. I will try to get a couple of pictures. The amp install is finished. I don't have the tower on the boat so I haven't heard the new cans yet. Just did the 1500 grit sanding on the teak platform. Finished waxing the starboard side last night-hopefully finish the port tonight. Almost ready for the summer.

Transom remote: arguably the best single feature. Nice work on your upgrades.

I know that my daughters are pretty excited about it. I'll have to see how the new tower speakers and amp sound. The extra remote in the cup holder area went in because I bought it before I realized the transom remotes were smaller and only needed a 2" hole instead of a 3" hole. Once I confirmed that three remotes would work simultaneously I figured I'd use the bigger remote since I picked it up so cheap. A little more wax and couple more coats on the teak and I'll be ready to put it in the water.
