  • Need advice on extended ski pole for wakeboarding

O.k., I know I got rid of an X7 for the 35th Ann., but a friend's kid is coming by the lake and I'd like to offer him a chance to wakeboard. I figure this might happen 2 times a year and don't want a mini or full tower. So what's my best option? Any advice would be appreciated? What not to do? What to stay away from etc.? If I have to, I can watch ebay or ski it again and find something reasonable. Thanks in advance.

Go two piece, it can be stored in the boat. There are weight limits and angle limits, to extended pylons. ( And yes, we do exceed them. And yes, not smart.) On my extended, the angle limit according to manufacturer is 45 degrees.

Most have double cables, this is big safety item. On a two(or three piece) pole, if the cable brakes, the tower can come apart. I no longer allow anyone to sit in the rear, when wakeboarding. (My ebay find only has one cable, so it is about to be replaced.)

I would not recommended buying a used extended, without two cables. Personally, there just not a big enough price difference, between new and used. To take a chance.

Before the tower we had a 2 piece Fly High and never had an issue with it.

I've got a two piece Skylon I've had for 6 years, and my bud uses a two piece Fly High like Coz's ^^^. I'd recommend either. Both have worked great for years.

I had the 2 piece stainless Fly High on my Tristar and never had any issues. The person that bought boat from me is going on 8 summers with same Fly High.

if he's never wakeboarded before, just pull him from your current pylon. He won't know the difference and won't need the benefit of the tower if he doesn't have any skills. Although it is easier to get up when being pulled from a tower....but oh well.
