This may be a record for thread bumping.

There are more threads on SMP trailers. IIRC, they were down the street from the factory back then.

Bump. I have the same. Boat same year same trailer. I’ve always been
Curious about the specs for this trailer as my sticker had been painted over
I still use that silly bar. It is a pain in the butt
Of OP. Is still around. Just curious what size tires are on your trailer
Pretty sure mine are the original wheel tire combo ,, Mine has always had 13 inch rims on it
And everything I have read said it should be on a 14 inch wheel. Just always been curious on what other tristar owners wheel sizes are. Cheers.

Check with Dorsey on the brake stuff. As for the bar, BriEOD has done the mod and can show you some pictures.

I was told by a Master Craft dealer that SMP was the / a manufacturer of trailers for Master Craft at that time. I would like to find out if parts are available still.

Is the SMP trailer what MC was using in 88? If so, the bar can be replaced with a bow stop or boat buddy with a little welding. Overtons has brake parts, but I purchased some replacement parts from Trailers by Dorsey in Oklahoma. Great folks to deal with.

    SMP Trailers..What do you know?

I recently purchased a 1988 TRI STAR 190 along with a '88 SMP tandem trailer. The trailer pulls fine, but I would like to put some new rims and tires under it and paint the trailer. Has anyone installed brakes on one of these, if so who is a good source to purchase brakes from? What is with the silly bar up front - can it be replaced with some sort of boat buddy? - Thanks.
