  • Am I an idiot or a genius?

Now I've got two boats, although I love em both,

I couldn't resist this black beauty, 2 hours on it, never registered or in the water. Problem is I've still got my old boat (for sale).

A couple of questions for you 45 people out there. The hole shot was less than impressive, although I'm coming from an 8.1 in my 230. The prop is a 22 inch, should I go smaller? I think the prop on my 230 is 18 inches.

Do I need a sirius sat antenna? This has the stock clarion and 6 ch JL amp. Are the speaker leads split between the 8 speakers, is the sub dual voice coiled? I can't find the jack for a Sirius antenna if needed, although truthfully I haven't looked too hard yet.

How do I use the cover poles, where do they strap to?

Don't laugh at my numbers, just trying to get it in the water for the first time, will improve those.

Taking a vote: take off the x45 decals or leave em?

You could have worse problems. I've got X-45 envy. I vote loose the decals. Congrats!

That new boat deserves better registration numbers. The ones you are applying look horrible. I think I used domednumbers.com Very pretty boat. I am no help on losing the x-45, personally I would leave it as is.

I just re-read your post and saw you asking that I not laugh at your numbers, I jumped the gun. But since I am the fool for posting, I am going to go ahead and laugh at your numbers. They still suck and your boat deserves something better. (HaHa!!)

      Beautiful boat.

Very nice boat, congrats. l'd lose the X45 and switch to the dommed large MasterCraft on the side like a lot of others are doing on this site but that's just me. The X45 doen't look bad, I just think the other would look better.

The webbing attaches to the pull up cleats (front and rear) with the long section going over the wind sheild.

The Clairon radio comes Sirius ready which means that unless it was included as an option you'll need a cable, Sirius receiver and an antenna. If it was included it should be mounted next to your amps.

Nice boat. The mail box numbers have to go. I agree the dommed numbers would look better. The "X45" on the back is not bad. A nice "MasterCraft" on the side would look nice. I would not pull the "X45" off the side until I put the "MasterCraft" on the side, and see how they both look together. That is a long boat and they both may work well together?

In my X-Star the front straps loop around the hand rails, rear straps to the cleats, I am not sure how it works on the X-45, someone will chime in.

            Another vote for domed numbers.

              Nice boat!

I vote loose the X45 decals, I am not a fan of black boats, but bxroads has a black 197 with all the decals removed, except the transom, and I have never seen a nicer looking boat.

I am a new owner so I can not have any input yet. Just want to say nice looking boat, but the lines of the Maristar are hard to beat. Well at least that is what I think, because I just picked up and 2000 230. Getting it home today and ready for the lake ths weekend. The bad news is that our season is coming to a quick end. Again nice boat. It is a Mastercraft so it has to be nice. 42 years old and finally can say I own one. Things are good.

What motor is in the new boat? A 14.5 X 22 would have been for an 8.1.

I'm in the smae "boat" as you! (Not a bad place to be by the way) Mine are just a bit smaller!
I'd love to keep the 190. Even my 6y/o said "Dad, the black boat is slow!"
I didn't think I'd like the big white decals...until I saw the boat. I'd keep 'em for a while!
The other decal setup I saw that I really liked though was (and this was on an all white X2) get rid of the big decals and replace with the chrome drip molded classic Mastercraft font right where teh X45 is now, just below the angled hull line.

Nice boat! Probably got a heck of a deal in Phx. Lots of people dumoing their 'spensive toyz!

                        Very nice boat!

I think she suffers from neglect with just 2 hours on it! Go out and show her some love.

I would either go naked on the stickers, just make it look all clean.

Or add a bigger MASTERCRAFT sticker across the side like mine has, and ditch the 45 on the back:

And to answer your question directly...You're a freakin' genius!
                        Be excellent to one another.

I think you bought my boat. I think this is the same one i found on boattrader. I found it one day, was gonna show my wife the next night and it was gone. I just bought a 09' F250 SD crew cab 4x4, (black on black) and when I saw that boat, man, would have looked tough behind the 250 fiddy!

                          Very nice boat! Congrats.

I recommend 3dlettering.com. I had a set done by them, and they are fantastic. They were also shipped to me within 3 days and are very reasonably priced. To the best of my memory they are about 1/2 price of the domednumbers.com. I meant to take a picture last spring when I put them on the boat, but I never got around to it. Sweet X45 though. I'm a fan of leaving the X45 on.

ok on the front of the cover poles with the cleats, the back has one strap to which i put around the ski pylon, it didn't seem long enough to go anywhere else
