13.7 X 17.5 or 13.7 X 19.5 for X-30?

I know that I am supposed to ask Eric at OJ this question, but it doesn't seem to be good form to go directly to him given that the props in question are used ones for sale in the marketplace. That being said, if he would like to opine...

I'm looking for a 2nd prop that would be a good primary for big lake (Mead/Powell) use. My current spare is a 13.7 X 15.5 that came with the boat and it just stinks for any purpose on my boat. I have the LY6 engine.

Has anyone used one of these sizes on an X-30 or MS230 at elevations between 1300 and 3600 ft?

He's answered others question regarding used props in the past and I would feel he would treat you any differently.

I believe there is an option to have a edit icon next to the pdf, print and email icons for articles but i cant seem to find where you can choose this option?

Also with articles I want a second user to be ableto log in and then have access to create new articles and edit old ones, but again I cant seem to get a login area up on the front page to allow this.

If I had to choose between the two sizes I would suggest the 13.7 X 17.5. Neither are a really good fit though. What size are you currently running? Feel free to give me a call if you have any other questions.

Currently I have a 14.25 X 14 on it. It seems to work fairly well for the higher elevation lakes around here (4,000'-6,000') Should I have something different for that application as well?

The 14.25 X 14 should work OK, most 6.0's will run the 14.25 X 14.5. For the lower elevation you might look at the 14.75 X 15.5, the new "stock" prop from the factory for the 6.0.

I have a 13.7 x 17 XMP prop for my '02 X-30 with the L-18 engine. Is that the correct prop for use on a lake at sea level (0-500 feet above sea level)?

Eric - If your question was refering to my post above, my boat has the L-18 motor (8.1L). My main purpose is surfing with some wakeboarding and general cruising around. I have the stock 14 x 18 SS prop as a backup. I also have the FAE exhaust installed which probably cuts down a little on my top end.

I built the 14.75 X 17.5 for the 8.1 powered wakeboats. I would think both the 13.7 X 17 and 14 X 18, basicly the same prop, would not be enough prop, pitch and diameter, for that motor.

Would running the 13.7 x 17 cause bogging down under load (2,000 lb ballast and 5 people in the boat) when wakeboarding? If so, would the 14.75 x 17.5 prop help out? I am not interested in top speed at all. My lake (Lake Washington) gets so choppy during the summer that I really can't go more than 25 mph before the boat starts to porpoise and knock us all around.

The 14.75 X 17.5 will be a better all around prop. The larger diameter will help with acceleration problem.
