  • Sticker removal or not???

Been thinking about this for a while now and wanted to get other people's opinions/thoughts. I know in the end it's my decision but I'm curious to hear what other people think. Here it is: I'm leaning towards removing the large X30 sticker on the side of the boat. The boat is an 2002 X30 with 2004 stickers and a 2005 tower. The sticker, in my opinion, dates the boat. However, it has protected the side from some scratches in the gel coat and having a metal flake boat, that is kind of important. I was thinking a replacing the sitcker with the 2010 side stickers that just say MASTERCRAFT in large letters. Pleasegive me your feedback. Here are a few pics. If someone could photoshop the sticker off the boat that would be really cool.

Even if it was maintained well you will probably see some evidence of the previous stickers due to the gelcoat fading. If it was stored outside you will definitely have some fading. If it has always been indoors then the difference will be minimal.

When I took my '00 Maristar stickers off it left a pretty apparent outline. This can be pretty much eliminated with sanding and compunding (I experimented on one letter) but it's a lot of work and I will wait until it's colder to handle that.

Also, there could be fade marks from the original stickers under the fade marks from the '04 stickers.

BTW I think the chrome drip molded "MasterCraft" that some other people on this forum have been putting on theirs would look really classy on yours.

        Tom.

Boat looks good on Chelan. I took the flames portion off one side of the boat with my 07 decal last weekend and am thinking about going with a big MASTERCRAFT as well. Pull the trigger and get out the rubbing compound and 3M finnise. Pics are still on the camera from last weekend. I will upload this weekend and post.

Not a fan of that era X decals. I second the suggestion for the drip molded Mastercraft as a replacement.

            Hope this worked!

Ok, the color kind of came out terrible, but you get the idea.

Another vote for drip molded Mastercraft. Jeff d's transformation is excellent and so much better, in my opinion......

Here, I redid it with the correct color. If anyone has a good jpg of the drip molded chrome, I will see if I can ad that.

I would replace it with the drip molded MASTERCRAFT as others have suggested. I know BigMac changed his MARISTAR to MASTERCRAFT on his 230 and it looks very nice. Good luck.

That's not actually my thread/boat. It's just one that came to mind.

I think the other nice things about the drip molded style graphics are 1) They're easier for the amateur graphic applier to handle since you don't have to be very concerned about bubbles and wrinkles. 2) They will match up with the "MasterCraft EFI" on the rear corner if you choose to keep them (Might be redundant). Now that I'm thinking about it I'd probably remove those if you're putting a big "MasterCraft" down the side.

You can find them on e-bay (the decals) depending upon your luck. A while back there was a guy selling DOZENS of sets of them. I should have snagged a set but I didn't......
