I am sure this has probably been posted and asked about a million times but I just bought my first boat. A 2000 230 VRS. The boat is in great shape and I couldn't be happier, but I am already thinking of adding a wake tower, ballast and bimini, and I really want to add some sweet new graphics. I am looking for as much info and input from as many people that are willing to throw me their two cents.

I just bought the same thing last fall. Only thing is that it is green and already had a tower. The kids love it and so do I. We looked at the 190's and yes they are a nice boat, but did not have the seating. One thing for sure is the 230 likes the fuel, but worth every drop you use. If you enjoy half as much as we do, you will love it. I am also thinking about going with a "naked" boat or new decals.

we have a 2000 210. i am taking all decals off and putting a flexor chrome Mastercraft decal on back two sides and transom and leaving hull naked. lots of opinions on here about decals i personally like a cleaner look on the Maristar.
New Dimensions tower most likely will match the lines of the windshield better and i beleive is the most $$. Search the site and you will find info on towers. We currently have no tower and use no fat sacs and our son and friends have started to jump wake to wake btw 15-20mph. if they want to do much more we will have to invest in some sacs
slalom wake is okay, not so great under 30mph, pretty decent btw 34-36. not a prostar wake for sure, but does well. having this boat for one year, we really like the room, the storage, the power and the performance. Solid boat, fuel injection is awesome, and fits our family needs well. enjoy and invest in this site. it will make enhance your boat and boating experience.

tlcrichardson - As far as the fuel goes, I actually couldn't belive how fuel efficient it was compared to the old 454 big block carb Maristar 240 I came from.
LaRue - I don't think you need fat sacs or a tower to be successful wakeboarding. I have flipped and done 180s clearing the wake no problem without either. However I have also wakeboarded with both on my brother in laws 190 and found it a lot easier to do so
My wife is a slalom skier and we also do some wakesurfing which in my opinion is so much fun. This boat puts out a really awesome wake if you want, but also seems to have a pretty good slalom wake.
Anyone have any idea about my cruise control button on my dash. doesn't seem to be hooked up to anything under the dash though. Can I hook up perfect pass to it or something.
attached is a picture of my brother in law wake surfing with no ballast at about 8 mph

I have thrown 2 380 lb bags in mine next to the engine. Made the wake nicer but did make it harder to get on plane and harder to maintain a specific speed without constant attention to the throttle.
I've also put 4 380 lb bags in the rear and a 650 in the bow walkway. Wake was bigger and steep. The newer wakeboarders with us couldn't jump it (they couldn't build enough speed to pop off the top) while the advanced riders were being launched about 10'.
I've surfed with one 380 lb bag in the left rear compartment and one against the seats in the left rear corner. I'm not an experienced surfer but was able to generate consistent slack in the rope with this setup.
Ideally I'd like to have a pair of 750s in the rear compartment, a 400 lb tube in the ski locker and a 650 lb integrated bow sac. This would put all of the ballast out of the passenger area and still give a lot of weight. That's not in the budget right now so I'll continue to use the small bags that I borrow from friends.

Hello kstumpenhorst!
That is a nice color boat. it would go well with my red truck...lol We have the V210 with a Tower and a Bimini.
We added the bimini, and use it all the time. Right about lunch time we put it up and It stays up till the sun goes down...it has saved many shoulders and neck's!
Is there any exhaust smell while your surfing? When we tried ours, there was and it was just too strong a smell...1999 MasterCraft Maristar, V210, 330 Hp LTR
Mods: Upgraded Stereo, Amp, 6 Disk Changer, Zero-Flex Tower, Custom Fit Bimini Top, and of course...Teak Oil!

Great boat, I have a 99 in the same color combo. I've removed my decals and have a Lightning tower on mine...
I agree with Larue, I love the clean look. Especially on the Maristars where the colors tend to be tamer than the color combinations on the X series.
