  • Engine Serial Number

Just bought a 2004 Prostar. Trying to get title switched over and looking for the location of the serial # on the engine. Any suggestions where this would be located and how many digits this might be? Has a Chevy Block (MCX) so would it start with IC (Indmar Chevy)?

Yes- IC is the first part and it should be followed by the number itself. If you can't see it on the sticker (usually on the oil pan), call MC and give them the hull ID number so they can look it up.

Thanks. Sticker wore off on oil pan from sitting in some water. Is it etched in the block somewhere? Title bureau needs digital picture or pencil etching to issue title. Found a 6 digit # on the front left lower side of block, but no IC in front of it.

The S/N on a 2004 is just a six digit without the letters IC. It is stamped on the boss where the mechanical fuel pumps used to be mounted.

Great. That's exactly what I found. Just thought the # looked to short and not quite right without any letters included. Thanks.

I guess there's no reason to use the IC anymore since they use GM engines and not Ford.
