I have the camera option on my 2012. It appears to be the non-HD version, but I believe mine is an "early 2012" model. Do you guys know how to "loosen" the housing that holds the camera and swivels with the rope? The swivel is so stiff that the camera will not track with the rope, it just stays wherever it is fixed, and the rope and rope guide follow the boarder.

Good to know. For the $ spent on the option, good to hear the new boats are coming equipped with the HD camera.

The HD was and is avaiable on the 2012 not on the 2011. I was told MC will have a pert number for the HD arrangement at some point in the furture, but will require significant recabling. This comment came from POV. The '11's have the VIO 1.5.

Im confused... My 2012 X25 just arrived a few weeks ago (still waiting to pick it up), but I did notice the POV camera appeared to the the HD version (according to the camera head). Also I was under the impression that MC already upgraded the POV1 to the HD version for later 2012 boats.

got an answer from VIO. They working on an new HD Camera Head with 6.5 m cable.
    Should be avalible late Summer.

I would not expect to see them in MC production before 2013 models.
    But you never know.

I will try to replace the 1.x and let you know how that worked (or not)

    Stay tuned

    VIO POV HD Camera

The Issue is on the POV HD side.
You Need an Extension cable to operate the Unit in the Glovebox and the camera head on the tower.
The HD Head need more "Power" than the POV 1.x Versions. So the Extension cable does not work with the HD head.
VIO currently are not able to deliver a Extension Cable that fits with the HD Version (as they may Need to include a Kind of amplifier to make sure the head gets enough Voltage)

Very sad, I already bought the HD to replace the 1.x (which is really low res.) …
I ask VIO frequently for an update on the Extension cable for HD … so solution so far.
    Bye Captain Fronk

I agree. For the money, the POV camera is not great. For that price range, a zoom lens and a relatively inexpensive 1080p CMOS chip should be part of the camera.

But those are two completely different types of video devices. One is a full size camera while the other is a remote lens camera.

Who knows who will get the first order of the newer PRO.HDs.

2011s at the factory in October did NOT have the HD model camera. The video I took with one was 640x480

POV.HD orders are scheduled to ship February 2011.

I would assume they will not make it into your boat.

So I wonder the resolution they will use on the 2011?
