  • Ok Fam. I need a little help. My storage was broken into and I need to know the following for 2010 x14DD
Stock amp (x2) info. also the EQ thing under the passenger seat. They ripped all out. Photo if you have for extra points........
Also the battery info for replacement. I know I should know this info but not into big aftermarket stereo and the stock worked just fine. Have photos and info of everything else for police / insurance.
Everything is replaceable / fixable but cant get over the fact some slim ball was in my boat with his shoes on........
If I cap all the amp wires should be able to use after new battery install?

I am so sorry to hear this. I have an 08 x14DD with all electronics stock (and manuals), and happy to help you. My boat is here in my garage so pix are easy. That said, I don’t know if there are differences between the 2010 that are remarkable enough to make a difference in what you need. I am on standby for you…. Good luck.

      • What ballast and trim settings are you guys finding best for slalom and wakeboarding?

my wife and I slalom and our 8 year old wakeboards and 2ski currently. The wake is nice on the drivers side for him but too soft on the passenger side.

I find it very choppy at 30 long line. Zero trim tab or ballast is the slalom setting it came with.

Jack of all trades , master of none, the ski wake will never be as good as a ski boat… and the surf wake will never be as good as a surf boat. But you can surf, ski, barefoot and wakeboard

The big issue for skiing is the location of the motor and the addition of almost 1000 lbs of vdrive. We are avid (non course) skiers. Best settings we’ve found are low fuel, spotter sits in the bow seat. No ballast, short line (at least 20 off) , 32 or preferably 34mph . Sometimes we add trim but don’t really notice a difference. You’ll get a more symmetrical wave by adjusting the position of driver and spotter port or starboard to balance the boat.

we don’t wakeboard much. For our purposes, the stock wake at 18-22 with no ballast is fine. But pay attention to port/ starboard weight distribution of people in the boat to get the symmetrical wake

Wake surfing needs the boat to be at maximum load (people plus ballast). It is far better to have a wake shaper ( homemade or otherwise) than to put everyone on one side to lean the boat. I use the centre tab a lot when surfing to find the happy medium between wake height ( bow up) or push ( bow down) . No matter what we do, the regular wake is always a little cleaner than the goofy wake.

          have fun

          • ^^ I odn't exactly agree with this. I went from an '05 197 to an '08 X14 and my ski partner felt the 15 and 22 off wake was better/ softer on the X14. I ran that thhought through my friend/ dealer and also on this forum and there was a concensus that this is true. Now as the lines shorten, the 197 takes over.

EDIT: I was talking about DD. I realize now the discussion above was for a V-Drive. So I agree completely.

Hi - wanted to share my experience ... I have a 2008 PS214 with Mini-Tower and 2 can speakers on it, no racks presently. I keep my boat fairly empty from a gear standpoint when we slalom.
I have skied several times with 197's (super sweet boat BTW).

                My findings -
15 off at 32-33 mph the 214 wake is really, soft .... so much so that I think it compares or is a little better than the 197 - the 197 feels a bit firmer but I would not say bigger
22 off on both boats is firm and there is a bump, be on edge ... for a ski boat you feel it
28 off - the 197 feels firm but the exit trough is smaller, the 197 starts feeling a bit better

Both boats feel really good at 34 mph - 36 mph.

I would add the beginner wakes for skiing 28-30 for open water are mellow and inspire confidence (like any Direct Drive does).

Side bar - I also have a 95 190 .... while that wake is smaller than the 214 ... at 15 off - either is great. We ski both interchangeably

In all cases ... they will be better than the 214V ... although the 214V if connected to the center pylon is pretty darn good too ...

Ski in snow, ski in water, and always have fun!

She's gonna send me a sample so I can see how it looks near the gator step. Hopefully it works there. She priced it at $50.
