The wake that gets thrown by the big X boats is so much larger than most folks need, but MC caters to an upscale, alpha male, big spender market (much like expensive golf clubs)...so they sell those big boats at the expense of crossover boats.
X14V is apparently the perfect boat that nobody wanted
My guess is the NXT20 will be marketed as the new cross over for skiers. All good news for helping the 205 hold their value
The 14 DD was a big hit in it's first few years. Then when the 14V came out in '09 that was a big hit. Clearly the numbers of each dwindled enough to drop them both. I'm a little surprised, I thought the 14V would be around a little while longer. The demise of the 14 DD actually made sense to me given the new prostar, which has way more room than the 197, along with the dwindling sales of the 14DD in it's final few years.
Prior boats - (3) X14's, (3) Prostars, and a Tristar.
We wake surfed yesterday with borrowed ballast and 6 people. Not too bad, but the platform shaves the wake. The platform on the 14v seems lower in the water than other boats- I guess it was the right height for the dd, but then they moved the motor back.
I know others have drilled new holes, but I'm not sure I want an angled platform. Has anyone raised the platform by putting a new piece of teak between the platform and the metal base? I figure we can raise the platform by about 1.5 " inches before it bumps into the lifting lugs above the platform.... So a 2"x4" x18" or so piece of teak under the platform.
I was just thinking about this today. Seems like an easy thing to try. I wish I could find a place that would make a custom fiberglass one actually. I'd go much smaller and raise it too.

There's a lot of things I really like about it, but my one regret was we should have got more 'bling'. The gunmetal flake looks awesome in the right light... we just needed more.

Cheers,
A couple of great looking X14's there. Very different, but I like them both.

Short story is we live in Calgary but still have the family cottage in Ontario. We beat a path back there every summer.
It's a long way, and we can't just go for a long weekend so that's why I have been asking on TT about lakes & cabins within 5 hours or so drive from Calgary.... The problem is we've been on that lake in Ontario since I was a little kid, so I know three generations of neighbours all around the lake. It'll be hard to leave.
I know where you're coming from. I grew up on a lake in BC that is too far to drive for a weekend and it took me years before I found a new lake closer to home. I believe I may have mentioned it before, but take a look at Moyie near Cranbrook.

Really like the color combo rtw. Just curious - are you doing your own tower speakers or keeping the tower clean?
