Thank you all for the replies. Has anyone had experience with Samson Towers? They are somewhat local to where I live in the Pacific Northwest and seem to make a really solid product.
Question for the x-14 group,I presently have a 1994 205 ( got it in 1996) and it's time for an upgrade so I am in the market for a x14v , my family skis the course as well as wakeboard and surf, so the question , what's the best year to get and what to watch out for with this model, I have read about the software problem with the 2012 model , and newer is sometimes not better , dealer is trying to sell me on the x-2 and x-10 models thanks guys for the help.
IMO, you won't be happy in the course with any vdrive. I have not skied the x14V, but coming from a 93 205 to an 08 x14 DD, in the course at 15 & 22 off takes some getting used to. I hear the 14 DD get better at shorter length but I can not say personally.
We love out 14DD and it is a true cross over. I can still get in the course, wakeboard wake is good for beginner to intermediate, and wife and kids can surf as well with a couple bags.
I would love an x10 or x30, but won't make the move until I can afford a 2nd boat to ski with.
I'm in a 2012 x14v and really like it for versatility. The ski wake bump is not bad at 34, but it noticeably present and takes some getting used to. As for computer issues, all years seem to struggle with moisture, and 2012 is fine with the latest updates. Surf wake is good if you raise the swim platform, but this is a must and very easy to do in under an hour. Yes, I wish that I had a Prostar when I slalom these days, but I never miss having to step over everyone and fill the floor with ballast to surf.
You should test drive/ski one to make your own opinions about the wakes. Any competent dealer will respect this request. Good luck!
question, looking to upgrade my 205 to a 2010 x-14v, found one with 85 hours , spoke to a service tech. at a master craft dealership , he said be carful about the VDIG system, love some help also what to look for on this model , i was going to test drive one saturday . thanks guys
All MCs (and Malibus) struggled with VDIG and touch screens in the early days, so be sure to put the system through the paces. Everything else that I can think of are standard items to look for on any boat, and these are well covered in the sticky FAQ from EastTx. Be sure to also verify all electronics outlets, ports, etc, as these were not physically well mounted in mine (design flaw) and I replaced the 12v ports and the 3.5mm aux ports via eBay because they would not stay in place. One unique thing to this model is the removable slalom pole, so be sure to verify that this locks securely into place and then removes easily. If it does not, just search this forum for how to easily fix that. The last thing unique about this model is that many owners have found it helpful to raise the swim platform slightly for a better surf wave, and there is a lot of knowledge here on how to successfully complete this 60 minute task. Otherwise, the X14 and X14V models have proven to be solid crossovers for myself and many on this forum. Good luck, and keep us posted on your potential purchase!
P.S. I have owned the 205 and the X14v, and as we all know, opinions are cheap and free. Happy to answer any questions on the pros/cons that you can't already find here.
thanks for the info KC, I have seen the links on the slalom pole and the platform , thanks again, hope to make it up to BNA for your get together, I live in the memphis area.

Come on over! Always great to meet new water folks!
I just bought my 2011 X14v last July The family really likes it. There lots of room for everyone compared to our last boat which was a 05 tt. but me personally I miss the hole shot of the tt I guess if the family is happy I have to be to. I don't know how to post picks on here to show off the boat
Agreed that no VDrive has the sports car feel of a good DD, and no wake will be a Prostar without actually being a Prostar. 😊 My goal is to someday have both! I mean, you gotta have goals, right? Ha
