    • We ordered a replacement factory MasterCraft mooring cover when ours started to show its age. Much cheaper than the aftermarket. We store our boat indoors, so the original cover material works great for our needs. Even came with the anti-pooling poles and storage bag.

      • Our X14 boat does it all!

This summer we have had it all! Bare footers, Skiers, tubers (I know, I know, but the little kids like it.) and now surfing!

        • What setup are you using to surf , how much extra ballast , and what speed , we have been trying on our x-14v , but just can't get the wave .

          • I find the biggest roadblock to getting a good wave on the 14V is that the platform is too low. It drags in the water and stops the wake from forming that clean curl on the surfable part of the wave.

I described how I raised our platform here and it makes a big difference.

We have 2 x 400lb fat sacs plus completely fill the internal ballast. Placement details are in the linked post above. Add three people and at 10-10.4 mph the wave is pretty good - its not like what you can get on a surf boat, but we bought this boat so we could ski: Being able to surf is a bonus.

If you're not a woodworking kind of guy, FoggyNoggins got his teak risers from the platform supplier. Perhaps you can call them and say "I'll have what he had" and then install them yourself - installation is pretty easy.

            • Platform already has the spacer installed , we bought ours also to be able to ski , I guess it's time to buy extra ballast , which ballast bags did you buy and did you piggy back on your hard tank pumps to fill or are you using an external pump .

              • Our set up on that day was 10.5 mph, all tanks full and five adults in the back of the boat. No additional ballast.

                • The surf wave on this boat is very finicky to pitch/roll. We have factory ballast all full, 300lbs in ski locker, and 400lbs of lead under observer seat and 200lbs in the bow. Even with this, we prefer to surf in a circle for the optimal wave. It's not an X46, but then I wouldn't wanna ski behind that thing either!

                  • Thanks for the info , It looks like I need to purchase some external ballast .

                    • I called Jared @ LeadWake. Reasonable pricing and a well made bag.

On days when we are skiing and surfing, I leave the lead at home and put an additional 700 back when surfing with ballast bags from Fly High. I also installed an additional pump in the ski locker that will fill my external bags via a seven foot hose.

Just left the X-14dd for the x-23. Unbelievable first boat and happen the x-23 continues the family fun. Unfortunately, spent the day at the emergency room due to the first football scrimmage and a broken wrist in my 8th grader. He's heartbroken. No skiing and nor football for 4 weeks.

Disappointing for sure. But...he will have admiring empathetic girls gathering around and wanting to sign his cast.
