To all X14V owners I made a bracket for my center ballast tank pump. My pump now lays horizontal and it is about 6" out of the bilge. I used the 2 bolts from one of my fins to hold it in place. And you have enough room to get the drain plug out.



Just trying to help so no one shorts out any more pumps They are a bit pricey

A few months ago I saw a post here for a tapered wood shim to lift the platform on a X-14v. I thought it might have been the link above. I'd like to build it over the winter but I can't find the thread.

Nice job on the bracket. I think there are other solutions too- For those of us who couldn't build a bracket, I think foggynogginz mounted his pump upside down to get it to prime easier... And it would also stay out of the bilge water. His post is #204 here

We really need a "do these mods to your x-14v's" thread to keep track of all these ideas, because they are getting lost in the 20+ pages of x-14 discussion. Maybe update the FAQ?

We have a 2012 X-14V. We are happy with the boat but would like to trade up. Has anyone heard if there are any plans to replace the X-14 in the lineup. We looked at a Sport Nautique 200. I think it's too small of a boat for us. What else is comparable?

I was convinced i wanted an x14, but recently did a test ride in a 2015 x10. to say the least i was impressed beyond belief, the wake is flat enough for slalom, the surf wake is awesome, and the boat has a ton of space.

there is an auto launch program which deploys all the tabs down from the hole shot so there is bow rise less than or equal to a modern center mounted inboard.

Nothing coming new that is comparable or will replace the X14V. Closest thing is the X10. More room, way better surf and board wake, and not as good a slalom wake. Why do you want to trade up? Just an itch for a new boat?

I sold my X14DD in '12 and was disappointed I couldn't replace it a few years later. I was glad to find the '08 that I bought earlier this year.

The electronics have been a problem since the boat was new. The updates help but it's never been right. I just can't image them resolving themselves as the boat ages. With 400 hours on the boat I believe there's still enough value to trade or sell without being out of pocket too far.

Anybody on here with the X-14v taken it through the course at say 34 mph with 22-28 off and have some feedback to provide as to the quality of the wake?

Yes. I've taken mine through the course many times and while it works for me, you certainly have to adjust your expectations from a direct drive Prostar. The Wake is not much wider because of the V Drive but it is certainly a stiffer bump in the middle of the wake than I was used to on my 209. If you are pulling through the wake in good form then you will blow right through it. However if you get a slight bit too far forward, or tend to break at the waist then this wake will make that more obvious. The wake tends to get better with speed, and shorter line lengths. I like 33/34 mph, 1/2 tank of gas or less, and 150lbs of lead right up in the tip of the bow to raise the transom up a little when on plane. This makes all of the difference in the world. I don't think the wake plate does nearly as much as the weight in the bow does to improve the slalom wake. This being said, I really enjoy the versatility of this boat and I'm not sure that anything else rivals it for someone who wants to slalom and surf with a MasterCraft.

The only other option that I had even considered was to buy the direct drive version of this boat and then completely fill the floor with bags when I wanted to surf. However I had been doing this with an X9 for many years and wanted to try an easier route. I don't ski the course very often with this boat because a friend of mine has a direct drive Supra. But if you're looking to have a single boat to do multiple sports with and one of those sports is slalom skiing, then this boat is a great choice in my opinion. YMMV.
