    • Can anyone with a X-14 DD take a picture on how the support struts for your motor box are setup? I believe mine was originally the clamshell setup but it now has the traditional full box. The struts I have are too long and have never been connected. If I new the part number for the struts and had a picture with the general location of the brackets I'm sure I could get them sorted out. Need to protect my toes from an accidental drop!

I can, but won't get to it for a day or so. I've had mine disconnected on all 3 of my X14's.

I thought the clamshell motorbox was only on the '07's. Why did they replace the motorbox? Or why do you think they did? Both of my '08's had the one piece.

        • Mine was 2RLake's old boat. I was one of the first '08 models, I think it was the photo boat in the brochure. A lot of the tags on the motor, etc say '07. I think that is why it had the clamshell. As far as why it was swapped, I don't remember. I think the clamshell may have been left up while underway or towing and broke off??

I usually do a quick check for leaks etc on every outing and like to have the struts make sure it doesn't fall accidentally.

          • Bump this back up as a reminder, maybe someone can snap a few pics of their motor box supports for me...

Brian, I haven't forgot. I'm going to the shop this afternoon. Check your PM's.

I have tabs on order and will have them to installed in April. I can't report on performance just yet, but I will let everyone know how this goes once installation is complete.

Which ones are you getting? I wasn't sure that you could fit gen 2 in a 14v... And Ryan at gosurfassist wasn't sure his tabs would fit either.

                    • Yeah, Ryan wanted me to bring the boat to TX and I simply do not have the time to do that. So I have purchased the system through WakeMakers with an agreement to return if they do not fit. I have a local guy who has installed several Gen 2 tabs who will help me. I'll report back in a few weeks when I know more.

I'm very interested in your progress - Please take lots of install pics because I'll be following your lead. Thanks for taking one for the team.

Snapped these Yesterday. I hope they help. I apologize for the poor pic quality and the VERY dirty boat. My storage lights weren't working and I'm a little late waking her up from her winter nap and getting her cleaned up.

                            • How does the rtp do in the x14v? I know bigger is always better, but just curious to know if the rtp feels underpowered when slalom skiing.

                              • Thanks all for the pics. I'm missing the right mounts on the motor box. In the next to last pic above you can see another mount pin lower and back from the one the strut is connected to. That is the only one I have and I couldn't figure out how to make it work.
