My former boat, 2010 x14v did not come with struts or a locking arm. I added this:

Not sure if this is what you are referencing?

      • My 2010 14v has that , I am going to convert the seat supports to the gas strut , like the newer boats have , just trying to see the location of the floor support is installed .

        • My 2012 X14v came with the strut in the thread above. I replaced it last year and it was really expensive. I thought about a gas strut instead. I'd like to see pictures once it's complete.

          • I love my new boat!! We took delivery last Fall and only put a few hours on her before the season ended. We are at our big ski vacation--10 days at Banks Lake Washington and having a blast. She skis so fine!!!! I love it.

            • Looks like a great time. I know my best moments are with just my wife, my MC, and Me.

              • Question for the group. Where are the factory ballast on the X14? I have a 214 and I am considering adding aftermarket ballast and would like any input that is useful. Thank you.

Port and starboard aft, just in front of gas tank, and in place of your ski locker in floor at walk through to bow.

Port tank takes up entire storage under aft seat, and stbd leaves room under the seat behind driver

Great looking ride! Congrats! If you decide to surf, raising that swim platform and building a fake gate will completely change the game.

                    Enjoy!

I agree-- that would make a difference. We had a 2010 x14v prior to this and I never got it to surf very well. I actually gave up and sold our board.

Agree 100% that it has a finicky hull unless heavily listed for surfing, but with a suction gate I am now doing spins behind the thing evenly weighted, and I'm surfing at least twice as far back. Pretty amazing how different it is now. I also raised the platform about 3 inches. Now this boat does everything I ever wanted: ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon.

Easy to make, and it's an enormous difference. There is a company called Mission that makes these for $500, or you can make one in an hour for $35. Enjoy!

                            • Here are some photos of the gate that we made. All parts are in the thread above.
