New sender appears to have done the trick! I plugged the new sender out of the tank, and gauges went to 0%\E and low fuel warning came on. Installed the sender in the tank and went from E to full. (Has just gotten back to dock from marina topping the tank off). Hopefully next weekend, after a little use, will see if gauge moves (it does when I slide the sender out of the tank slowly).

Thanks for all the help on this repair! Now onto the rudder seal and blower hose.

Ok, I’m attaching a a couple YouTube videos I did yesterday. First one is of the dripless seal shaft when I was in gear, but basically idle speed (not sure if speed makes a difference for leak detection).

I feel like the water is coming in from behind that, probably rudder seal? Here’s a video I took from the outside of the rudder. It has some wiggle to it, wondering if I can put some grease in the zirc fitting?

I’ll also throw a couple of pictures I took below.

Yes that is correct. If you have dripping from the dripless, you need a new shaft seal. I had the same issue on mine.

Thank you both. So if I see any water coming from there = bad news? I think JohnE told me these are dripless shafts???

    1) I never looked at them closely, but the bilge pumps have an internal switch or float. The auto function of mine were fixed by cleaning them - no need to replace.
    2) My leak was only visible when the motor was running, or had been recently turned off. You have to be a contortionist to see the shaft seal on the 14V. I'm not aware of being able to fix it by repacking - the dealer replaced the whole thing.
    3) the repair is expensive on the X-14V because there is even less access room under the block than the usual V Drive boats. I hope it's easier for you on the X-14 if that is the problem.

    2. In the past I’ve read about people pumping more grease into rudder seal, or shaft packing/drip less shafts. Do either of these apply to x-14, or what to check/look for?
    3. Best way/place to trouble shoot water leaking in while on lake? Can I do it from lift with boat in water, or do I need to be moving, etc?

    Thanks in advance!

KRW - put water in the boat when its on the trailer and look for the area that it comes out. If nothing, then drain and try on the lake.

So as I was putting the boat up for the weekend, I noticed a little more water in the bilge than normal... ugh. The amount should have kicked on the auto bilge pump I would think but did not. I didn’t think to turn the switch to manual first, I instead pulled the plug to drain instead. As I’ve been working on the fuel sending unit issue, I’ve noticed some water accumulation towards the stern (by tank/rudder area). Next time at the lake, I’m going to make sure the bilge is dry (probably use my wet vac). A couple of questions:

    1. Does the bilge pump have a float, or will I most likely need to replace the entire pump?
    2. In the past I’ve read about people pumping more grease into rudder seal, or shaft packing/drip less shafts. Do either of these apply to x-14, or what to check/look for?

I've pulled barefooters with mine and it was in that 42 range. I recorded from my boat a barefooter in a 190 beside me and he left me. OJ told me there's a different prop that will add a few mph and reduce rpm at ski speed. There's likely a prop option for the rtp that would do the same.
I'm gonna say 75 mph will be hard unless another boat pulls you up on plane then let's you go 😂

I have an MCX 214 with Mini-Tower (I mention 214 since it lacks the weight of ballast) and a smaller tower weighs less.

With that said we run 43-44 with the MCX, there is a video of DoubleD barefooting it here ....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0FI4Au8mX8 (phenomenal boat driving btw)

The RTP may be a little less than the MCX .... but I would expect 39-41

Barefooters like the shape of the wake I have been told.
