    • Anyone know where the fuel sender is on an X14DD? My gauge reads empty when I've still got 20 gallons. Need to adjust it or install a new one.

      Thanks!

      • Open the rear glove box, pull out that tray, and you can get to it from there. Simple unscrew and replace.

        • It is in the top of the tank ... just off center on one of the wings ... mine is on the passenger side of the tank but viewable with the Center cushion out ... it has a wire harness to it ...

Thanks! I looked in there the other day, but all I saw was the pump. I'll give it another look and make sure I find it this time.

              Thanks!
Mine is the exact same! The conseses is the sender/ tank design is crap and a new unit will likely net you the same info.

E = 20 gallons left the tank for mine.

Don't recall the forum member but someone put mark lines and a light on their tank so they could visually check the amount in the tank.

If you decide to replace the sender and it works please let us all know as I'm annoyed at the inaccuracy.... but do appreciate the precision

Well, I did it 5 years ago so perhaps it is under the cushion like suggested above. I'll take a look Saturday and maybe I'll be reminded where it actually is.

Mine was terrible, in a similar fashion: oddly precise and as accurate as an analog clock with no batteries...
It really was simple to replace though. I would go nuts visually inspecting all the time.

Did replacement fix your issue?! If so did you replace like for like or get a different unit?

While I haven't pulled mine apart it seems as if it's too short as it's consistent in its empty point- which a 1/2 full tank of gas!

Generally I just fill it full before each outing but do like, and expect, things to work as they are supposed to!

Yes, replacement fixed it. I have a gas tank in a 1967 alumacraft boat that reads perfect as the day it was new. Technology has come a long way, reliability in some cases has not.

                      • I have replaced mine. Had a really hard time finding the part and I ended up getting a bigger one and cutting it down so it reads on the high side but st lease it works! Mine is a 2008 so it's volts and not ohms. I want to say it should be 6 inch but I bought a 7 inch and cut it.

The fuel sender is in the tank it self. You will see wires running to a piece with three or four screws at the top of the tank. When removed its a float/sender unit. I had to replace mine a couple years ago. Easy fix and the part is available through your dealer.

I am in the same boat ... pun intended .... I am on my 3rd one ... but they just are too short physically. When I am at 1/4 tank on the gauge, I have about 14-16 gallons still in the tank.

                            • Here's a pic. It's on the left with the red and white wires. This is looking in the rear storage compartment behind the seat.
