  • I’m sure some smarter than I will chime in, but if you are not skiing a course, I don’t see it making that big of a difference. I happen to have PP and Zero-Off on mine, BUT, it was a special one off, and not available until 2009s. The MC dealership has to call my boat a “pro star” for the correct codes to read and I’m pretty sure JohnE told me that was because my x-14 has a ProStar ECM.

It runs well enough in rpm mode for skiing, I'm not running any courses - maybe it's not worth the expense?
Check out http://www.nauticlaugic.com/. This replaces the paddlewheel with a GPS signal. Simple plug and play. I haven't done it, but have considered it. By far the easiest solution.

      • Wow that is cool. My PP works real well in RPM mode but surges in the others.

        • The nauti logic works great , I placed this on mine , 2010 , and the speed is controlled much better , surging problem is 95% gone , you have to adjust some of the pp parameters , easy too do , i ski , wake board , surf in the speed mode ,installed it 4 years ago

          • Hiya Folks

Another random question - I was cleaning/re-organizing my X-14, the USCG Approved PFDs live under the lounge behind the drivers seat for now - curious what y'all do for storage of these things and where you keep them? That appears to be prime real estate...

            Who stores what where?

            Curious minds want to know!

Good for you sir! Good for you!

Time to enjoy one of the best boats MC ever put on the water. A little garage drinking in her while you wait on the weather is expected.
Ski in snow, ski in water, and always have fun!

                • While I work on getting some photos, does anyone have suggestions how to clean the black "stuff" that is on the underside of all of the hatches? I thought it might be mold/mildew but it isn't wiping off with vinegar. Is this normal?

Well I have a 214 without ballast ... so I may do things a little different than a X14 user.

I have a tower and tower racks for board not skis, but I took them down since I have a ski locker.

                      So for me -
Ski Locker - has 3 skis in it and usually our main slalom rope
Bow storage Stardboard - Backpack with my tools, first aid kit pushed back towards the driver, tonneau bow cover, and extra space for guest storage as they come on board.
Bow - Port - anchor and line and leave open since the under observer stuff reaches in here ,,,

Under observer seat - 1 battery, 1 fire extinguisher, and usually all the towels, snacks, clothes for a day on the water.

                      Port Rear - Softside cooler
                      StarBoard Rear - Life Jackets.

Behind Driver Storage my ski jacket for easy access, docking lines, and bumpers, any thing needed for docking etc.

This will be more meaningful from a X14 person with ballast.

                      Peace!
Ski in snow, ski in water, and always have fun!

This will probably change now that our dock is done, but here’s what we’ve done to this point.

Lounge seat behind driver - all life jackets and floats.
Observer seat/ski locker - lake bag/towels, combo skis, throw float, tool bag, jump seat.
Under Bow port - box anchor
Under Bow starboard - ski ropes
Bumpers and tie ropes go in spot on port side
Misc ropes in the little stern locker
Slalom ski and kids ski on the tower racks
                        Cooler on the floor

                        • Anyone have a waterline cover or side skirt recommendation for our x-14s? Picture/brand would be appreciated. Considering adding zip-on side skirts to one of my covers...

                            • So my new 14 does not have a battery switch of any kind. Did it really come that way from the factory? What has everyone done as far as adding a switch, and while we're talking, a second battery.

My puny lil 214 has 1 battery, no switch and is always jamming.... I would install a switch of course if I added a 2nd battery. I only run 1 amp also and do ok.
