2012 Touchscreen Issues!!!!!

Ok...well I bought the 2012, and the touch screen locks up constantly. My dealer says that it is on the latest firmware revision, but we have only been out three times and it locks up after a few minutes of use every time. Any idea where to go from here? Is there anything else that I can do? Many thanks in advance.

When it "locks up" what do you see on the screen? Does it go all white?

If you can provide more details and post some pix you will get the help you need. Maybe post the version of firmware that you are running as well.

While you're gathering more info, you should flip your battery switch to OFF ... and then check all your connections for both batteries. The #1 resolution to any screen-related issue is to power cycle the boat.

Keep us posted. My '12 runs perfectly, but we have to ensure the batteries are always cranking at the proper levels.

You should also do a Factory Reset on the BIG (large screen). This will blow out all the rider profiles. I found that having more than 4 rider profiles causes issues.

A few tips...

1. Follow the above, search this forum for the latest firmware. Critical that you have them (touch screen and VDIG).

2. If the rear transom remote is water logged, that can cause this type of problem. Unplug it, see if that helps.

3. Make sure your battery connections are solid and that the batteries are holding charge.

I don't mess with the standard profiles and have 4 or 5 separate custom ones.

Thanks. I will check all of this today. The system is all at the latest firmware, and mine does not not have a transom remote. When it locks up, it it just that...a lock up on whatever screen you were on last. No buttons work, but the display is still there. You can't change anything at all without cutting power and restarting. Very frustrating. Personally, I wish they would have put a cup holder where this POS computer resides.

basically +1 on all that Kahuna said, if it still hangs up, might want to think about switching the unit, depending on where you are and how your relationship with a dealer is I'd suggest to switch it out just for a weekend to try it. Problem is, there are more than one possible sources of evil, the GDIG(speedo) is another one... IMO most of the problems were software though, and most of them are fixed these days, btw the BIG(touchscreen) is upgradable via usb flashdrive.

I wasn't happy with pp for sports other than surfing. Too much of a science behind all the parameters. I calibrated numerous times, set the rpm to speeds and tinkered with the cs,kdw and nn numbers more than i'll admit.

RPM mode worked. Once you load 1200-1500 of ballast for wake boarding... It becomes a pain. Key in that situation is to leave cruise off, get the rider up manually, then turn cruise on in rpm mode. In my specific case, I had spent a fair amount of time with MC on other issues and this was a way of them making it right.

For surfing, pp worked, some small issues but again it worked. I hear that it is odd because others had trouble getting it to work with surfing.

Hey I have a question for you.

Did you update the Vdig and the PP still wouldnt work?

I have a 2012 x25 and I am having problems with the PP holding speed well. In a straight line it is fine but if I turn right the boat thinks the speed is increasing when it isnt so the PP drops the speed until im straight again. Turning left does the same but opposite (increasing the speed.)

So I was just wondering if it is worth getting my dealer to send me the vdig flasher thing to see if that helps as I am very far away from any mastercraft mechanic.

Somewhat totally unrelated as I have a 2013/Murphy.

However, prior to the latest Rev, the 2013's would also lock up. Basically, would lock on whatever screen was last up and lock you into whatever profile etc. you were using until a battery reset.

What I found is most lock-ups would happen when you would be doing a function (filling ballast for a particular profile) and switching between different screens etc. If you selected a profile and let it finish its function typically it would not lock up.

I am not a computer guru, however think about it, when is your PC most likely to lock up and require a "Nose Blow" doing multiple functions in the background and have many applications open etc.

2014 x25 gen 2 touchscreen problems

This is the 2nd season we have surfed our x25 and have put 160 hrs on the boat.
My full size touch screen has been acting strange. the symptoms include not registering any inputs, I can tap and tap and nothing happens. Next symptom is the touchscreen starts changing settings without any inputs. While I have a surfer in tow the trim tabs will move or completely come up, the ballast will start to empty, and the cruise speed will start changing. I have talked to my dealer and they have agreed to switch it out under warranty.
I just was curious if anyone else has experienced this problem.

I have had mine freeze on me and put random speeds on my cruise. I have learned how to do multiple workarounds. Also to turn off the key when all else fails. And I have the latest software-54. 2012 X-35 6.0L

The dealer installed Zero Off for me, then I ran a ground wire from the battery to the dash, I hardly ever have a problem now. 2012 X-15.
