  • Serial Number location on LY6??

I need to find the serial number on a 2007 LY6 in an x45. I need it to get it registered in Texas. I found the plate below but I don't think they will accept that since they really want a pencil rubbing. Looked quickly and couldn't find one, anyone know where?

I'm in Illinois but I had the same issue with my reg. I sent in everything I was supposed to, even with a title! The sent me a letter back with a statement something like "A pencil rub is needed of the Hull ID and Engine serial number"

In my envelope I included a picture printed, on regular printer paper, of the placard on the engine because you could not pencil rub it.

I did pencil rub the Hull b/c of obvious reasons.

They accepted it even after I called and they sais a pencil rub was all they would accept because thats what the letter said. (basically repeated whatever I told them) low level bs.

darn.. Thanks.. I can do the hull like you said.. but yeah I thought the same I figured there had to be an embossed SN on the engine somewhere but I can't find it.

I already got pulled over this weekend for expired tags (out of state) and he said he will be looking for me Memorial weekend and better not see me without new tags

Trying to get it all done but it has been SUCH a hassle. They wanted me to weigh the trailer without the boat until I argued multiple times about surrrrrre I will just levitate a 5000 pound boat hold on.. Finally they took a picture of the MFG sticker (this one time blah blah blah) but that was DMV not I have to deal with parks and wildlife for the boat.

Go to the Indmar website and open an operators manual for your year. There is a diagram on one of the first few pages.

There probably is one stamped in your boats motor somewhere. I just stated it was inaccessible to get to stamped area and I provided a photo of the placard.

Tx parks and wildlife WILL accept photos of serial numbers of both hull id and engine id as long as it's very clear pictures, I went through this a few months ago. Fyi because you have an inboard motor you will only receive one title and on the title the engine sn will be listed. If you had an outboard 2 titles will be issued.

How do I register my boat in Texas if it is already registered and/or titled in another state?

If you currently have your boat registered and/or titled in your name in another state you can transfer the registration/title to Texas. You must transfer your registration and title within 90 days.

Submit the following to obtain Texas registration and title for a vessel:
            •Form PWD 143 media download(PDF 434.8 KB);
•Form PWD 504 media download(PDF 241.8 KB) (pencil tracing of hull identification/serial number); and
•Out-of-state title (if title state) OR out-of state registration card (if registration only state)

I've attached the 2 forms you need to get your tx title

Just got done having the same issue with getting a plate for my trailer, they wanted me to leave the boat in the water and drive it about an hour to a certified scale to get it weighed. Fortunately was able to talk the girl at the scales to deduct the dry weight of the boat plus the weight of gas and was able to pull it off without having to dump the boat somewhere.

Well went by Texas Parks and wildlife.. They were perfectly fine with the pictures no issue there. HOWEVER, they require the original title which a bank in Washington has since I have a loan. Called the bank and they no shock said... Yeahhhh we don't mail titles out unless it's paid off. So waiting on a manager to call me back to find out what my options are. Either way sounds like I won't have new registration numbers for Memorial Weekend.

Not sure if I want to chance Conroe after the officer already threatened me about seeing the boat on the water this weekend without new numbers.

I don't quite understand why they have your title. Normally, you are provided a title with them listed as the lien holder. Then once paid off you send it to their offices and they sign the release and send it back. How else are you supposed to get the title in your name? Who's name is your boat in now?

In Illinois we have a print out that states that if filled out and mailed in (although they have no proof you did) you can use the second form to keep in the boat as a temporary permit. And its good for 3 months. I have no reg displayed on my boat now and am going through this same stuff. And I have a friggin title. I have shown a few conservation officers this paperwork and was even thanked for having the documentation aboard. No tickets. Could save your weekend of stress and looking over your shoulder.
