  • '04 heater vent

Can't think of the make as I'm sitting here at work but was wondering if anyone else has trouble with their heater vents ('04 x-10). My vent in the driver's foot area has an adjustment knob to open/shut. Unfortunately, the blower has so much zest that it forces the vent closed. Doesn't seem to be any positive engagement in the open position. For now I have an allen wrench jammed in it so my feets stay warm.

Had the same issue with my 05, dealer told me that the new ones now have an o-ring between the knob and vent to create enough resistance to keep it open.

I have the same problem. I try to shove something in there to keep it open also.

Call HeaterCraft in Idaho. They make 99% of the heaters for MC. Look up their web site www.heatercraft.com.

I recently broke one of my three vents hot tubes and ordered a replacement direct from them. Great group of people to work with.

didn't get a response from HeaterCraft, but did my own investigation on the kick panel...

sure enough found that the vent is completely adjustable...see the attached pic, but the center round knob when turned to LEFT OPENS the heater all the way and when turned to teh RIGHT CLOSES the vent...also the vent is angled, so you can spin it in the direction you want the heat to blow, towards your feet or towards your knees...pretty cool...

This is too weird. I had the same problem over the weekend, and emailed the manufacturer, and he/they are already sending me out a replacement.

Very good service. Just for that, I ordered my shower!

Ha! My shower rocks. Yesterday I took my parents out in the MC because it was a little chilly in their pontoon boat.

My 12 year old and a few buddies went out with us, and we sprayed them with hot water while they surfed for a few hours. Pretty funny really. Did it keep them hot....of course not....but they thought it was cool.

Same problem with the ,06 we have. The dealer told us to put a zip tie on it to hold it open. I guess our O-ring must be missing or not helping.

problem with zip-tie if you ever want to close it to get more heat on the hose, you can't...you know when the wife wants the heat on and you don't???

Yup I know this problem that is why we stick our toe in the drivers side one when we want it to stay open. I am the one with the hose stuck in my shirt to stay warm. So I always want the drivers vent closed if it isn't needed. I just thought it was funny that was how we were supposed to fix the problem. Nothing like addressing the real issue.
