Manual and electronic readings record the snowpack’s statewide water content at about 20 percent of average for this time of year. That is a mere 7 percent of the average April 1 measurement, when the snowpack normally is at its peak before melting into streams and reservoirs to provide a third of the water used by California’s cities and farms.

Combine that with already mostly empty reservoirs, it is not going to be a good water year for CA if we do not start getting some rain soon.

That happened to us the year after we bought our first lake house in Orlando about 14 years ago. The old timers in the neighborhood assured me the water would come back up. They were right, but I was worried.

No houses on this lake. Just lake view homes. Well puddle view now. There were a lot of people out on New Year's Day with metal detectors

I'm assuming none of these are actual lake, but reservoirs. Pretty spoiled in MN and WI for the amount of lakes with stable water levels.
