Axis is giving the Bu line a run for its money in sales. I know 3 bu dealers around me sell 2-1 Axis to Bu. After years of toting the "we don't make budget boats we make premium boats" have they finally come to see the light. Interesting for sure.

60k is right on the money for a decently equipped Axis. However you could never touch one out the door decently equipped w wakeboard essentials for under 50. With all the upgrades it has gotten over the past 3 yrs I can't even call it a budget boat anymore. Its on par quality wise now with your everyday tier 2 boats. It's gotten better vinyl , some better hardware, different switches and gauge clusters, and some other refinements.

No matter how u look at it tho it's still considered budget. Why.......... Because when it first came out flagship boats were 40-50 k more. Say around 80-90k mark. That still holds true now only flagships are 135k mark. The prices are just rediculous theses days and will continue to climb. Therefore price of budget boats will increase in the same amounts. Hence term budget boat for 60k

As much as I love the 205v the entire inboard demographic has changed so much that model will ultimately fail I think if brought back. Especially at 50 k. I am 100% confident in saying that it will easily be above that seeing how the X1 was way over that before it went out. The hardcore skiers/ boarders are a small small percentage of te inboard market these days. Years back we were the majority. Inboards are now marketed as famy boats and people buying these things are more concerned with space than top level performance. That's why I think a 205v fails. There are so many other 21ft boats on the market that have double the space it just wouldn't get a second look from most families in the 50-60k mark. Put one in the 40's maybe. Sell like hotcakes.

Hate to ask but whats the beef there? They are basic but put out a darn good wake. I mean outside of the upholstery/dash I don't see issues with them.

They are priced well below a Malibu, and hence are still a budget boat. Granted a bigger budget than when they were launched. lf Axis wasn't successful, MC would probably not ventured into a budget boat line.

No wake complaints. Theyre killer boats. It was an example of a good idea, but they've gotten expensive! I demoed a a24 and it was nuts.

I highly doubt they would bring back the 205 for a budget boat. I think swatguy is right on the mark. They will likely use hulls that are in production.
