4 JL tower speakers and cans with lights

I have 4 JL tower speakers and cans with lights from my 2013 X30 that I am looking to sale. Boat used one season. Always stored in garage. This is the factory setup option which increased cost around $7000 when I ordered the boat in Jan 2013. I am upgrading sound system. Posting here and Asking $4000 based on dealer recommendation. Speakers sound great and are in perfect condition but teenagers want more wake length projection. Any interest ??

Hey OP, you should toss this into the "for sale" section as well.

I think the best you can expect for these, is about 2k, maybe $2500. I have watched several sets come and go on this site. And that was about the best they went for.

This is the exact reason if I was buying a new boat I would have asked for none of those options. $7k for tower speakers. Come ON!!!!!

This is why I keep transferring mine from one boat to the next....

At least MC finally offers an option of "4 JL speakers, in 4 JL housings" now. Instead of only the option of the expensive machined aluminum cans. The JL speaker housings are WAY cheaper, and look really good..... And they cost less than 1/3 of the MC housings.

seriously considering the neptunes, adding subwoofer, and some led rings inside for the kids. there has been a lot of interest in the speakers and cans so will see how it goes

You can get light rings for the cans that you have, and they are pretty inexpensive.

If you are replacing the speakers and cans because they aren't loud enough, it is most likely not the speakers...... The stock setup is under amplified. Doubling your wattage, or doubling your amplifiers, will really bring those speakers to life. And they will sound better than almost any other option. I have always doubled my amps for the factory tower speaker setup. It is a huge difference. (Bridge 2 speakers on the factory 4 channel, add another 4 channel, and bridge the other 2 speakers on that amp.

Nothing wrong with the neptunes, just figure I would let you know that the weakness in the factory setup is the amplifier, and not the speakers.

Foutyfour is right. First thing I did when I got my 2013 is swap out the factory tower amp for something with more power. You don't even have to spend a lot on an amp to get enough power to really drive them.

I have been told that i needed a speaker with " projection" to get sound at wake level. I asked about additional amp for the tower and was told the factory setup was optimal and the JL speakers would not produce the results that my teenage boys are looking for. We saw the neptunes at the boat show and I liked the look and sound over wet sounds etc. There seems to be a lot of opinion on these issues.....I just want sound at wake length as deafing as it is. I enjoy all the time it allows me with my boys and like the smile on their faces.

What kind of additional amp would i need. The radio guy at the dealership told me my setup was basically setup perfectly and maxed out for the JL.
