Yea, this one is more for go fast and hill-killing we have in the southeast. Could also be a nice dune machine with paddles. Stock is 40ish HP, mine should be pushing around 110ish HP.

I know I have a step on mine (Prostar) vs that extra seat area. To be honest you may only be able to fit 1 adult behind the drivers seat if thats what you are looking for. I am pretty sure the 205V X-stars and X1's had them.

I think all v drive 205vs have the seating the length of the passenger side. Only reason there would be no seating the length of the boar is if it was a DD, correct?

Fyi be careful with boats from NY. There is a bunch down in Port Jefferson area I was looking at but most if not all of them were used in salt water but not S.S boats.

Welcome! If you like to do it all (ski/wake/surf), then you will likely find yourself looking at one of the "crossover" boats. In the MC world, this typically drives buyers toward the 205, 209/X9, or 214/X14 (direct or V drive). In all if these cases, the driving factor becomes the desire to produce a good slalom wake behind the same boat which you use to surf behind. I have owned all three of these personally, and my reasoning is that I can only own ONE boat. Creating a good surf wave behind something that was designed for slalom simply requires a lot of weight (look for my videos of surfing behind the X9 on this forum). However, creating a good/flat slalom wake from an XStar is impossible.

Lots of people on this forum talk about the trade offs of the crossover boats, but the alternative is to either own two boats, have a good friend with the second boat, or give up one of your watersports. Personally, I would consider any/all three of these models, depending upon your budget. To be clear and fair, none of these models will create the super soft slalom wake of the Prostar 190, and none have the tsunami rivaling surf wake of the X30 or X46...but they each offer good/impressive wakes for each activity.

Honestly, surfing and wake boarding interest me the most. Every once in a while I like to hop on a ski. But like I said, I'm just mediocre at all of those things. Nothing to write home about. Anything is going to be an improvement from my 4cyl 17.5' I/O.

From what it looks like, I am leaning towards an 2000-2002 X-Star. Per this link, the wrap around seat started in 2000.

I am gonna break from the 205v mold and say a more well rounded all around boat would be the Maristar 210/X10 While you probably will be hard pressed to find an X10 in that range an identical version without all the wakeboard stuff is the Maristar 210. It handles rough water a bit better, gives you a ton more room, and is more family/multisport friendly. It sounds like you are going to be spending a day on the water. With coolers, people,tubes, and gear the Maristar 210 would be way more comfortable inside. You will sacrifice wakeboarding wake when compared to the 205v. It won't be of the same pro caliber. If you're just a recreational rider who enjoys being on the water though the Maristar 210 will still have a much better wake than any I/O.


If you were looking for more of a serious performance wakeboat with a pro wakeboard wake and a dam fine v drive ski wake I would push you towards the 205v. The only huge downside to the 205v is space. It gets very tight quick, but if you want top performance for wakeboarding, Ferrari like handling, and don't mind sacrificing space the 205v/ 99-2003 XStar is the ticket




As far as the seating 99's had a rear bench and an observers seat. No link between the (2) for the wrap around feel. The 99's also had a bit smaller sundeck and a longer cockpit. In 2000 they all went to went around seating. Some days I wish I had the 99 seating to open up my interior a bit, but you lose a ton of storage because that rear bench in 99 has storage on each side of it and not under the entire rear bench.
